Hi Bernadette, I have a Janome 200E which does 4x4 and 5x7 size designs. It's a great little machine and you can download your designs to it direct from the computer files as well as via a card reader and compact flash care. If offered as a gift, accept it gratefully in the spirit in which is offered - it won't disappoint you. p.s..Nobody has too many machines!
Bernadette,I say if it is a gift then you should take it. Go to the Janome website and find out what the capabilities are of the 200E. I have a Brother, so I can't tell you anything about the Janome. Even if it doesn't have embroidery, it is still worth keeping for other projects while your embroidery machines are in use. I have another machine I use just for that, because with this Line of Brother I have, you have to change the arms of the machine between embroidery and quilting/sewing.
Don't hurt your friends feelings by refusing it, unless she is wanting to sell it. If that be the case and the price is right and you can afford it, then I say go for it, but if not, help her find a buyer. :) Best Wishes with your decision. Terre
I do not know anything about the machine but I would like to ask why you ever want to turn down a free gift as nice as an Embroidery Machine? If you do alot of emb. work, you could always use another one. There have been times that I have had all 3 of mine in use at the same time. Not many mind you, because I find it hard to keep up with 3 at the time now, since I am cripple with arthritis. I spend more time on the computer collecting and talking about designs than I actually do sewing. I would try it and see if I like it and then you could decide if you want to keep it. I would certainly appreciate a friend that would offer me an Embroidery Machine! If you find you do not like it or need it, then you could help her sell it. The only reason I would not try it would be if I knew I would never want it or did not have the time to try it out. You never know that maybe in the future when you need your machine, it could break down and leave you with nothing to sew on! NOW, if she was trying to sell it to you and you really was not sure you wanted to pay for another machine, I could understand you telling her that you already has one and that you were not interested in buying another. If I was able to buy another machine, I would want the top of the line in what I call my field. ( I do not do commercial) I have an older singer XL1000 that has been used very little because I opened a Craft Store several years back and promptly had to buy a newer one which is a Babylock Esante. It was a couple years later that I decided I WANTED another(not needed) and I purchased the Babylock Ellageo. I love it because of the ease of use and it pretty much runs itself unless I am just having a bad day! I would love to have the Babylock Ellisimo with all the bells and whistles but I am retired and can not work even part-time because of my disability, so I dare say that I will never have another new machine! Try it, you might like it!
