I have sold on Ebay in the past and most of you are blaming the seller for charging high postage prices which just isn't accurate in the majority of cases. USPS and UPS set the postage prices and the majority of good sellers on Ebay are only charging you what it cost them plus possibly a $1 for packing costs which is very reasonable since the labels I found cost me 50 cents(this doesn't include those expensive printer cartridges). Ebay now requires sellers to cover the cost of every single purchase plus shipping cost if item is lost or damaged. So now most sellers charge insurance on all orders. These costs are necessary if you do business on the internet. A seller cannot provide all these cost free for an item that costs less than $10 especially when the average shipping cost is $6-13. "Free shipping" is just an advertising ploy. The seller must cover these cost either in the cost of the item or separately. That's the only way to stay in business. I have no problem with people voicing their concerns and opinions as long as they understand how things work and the appropriate person to blame. USPS is barely hanging in there so they must not be overcharging. When your bills go up so do theirs. If you have never sold on the internet you have no idea how much work it is if done correctly. Please direct your comments in the right direction.

Apparently I have touched a nerve. I just cant justify paying almost 3 times what the merchandise actually cost in shipping charges. I dont mind paying a reasonable shipping cost but some are just overcharging . Just my opinion. I will buy off the internet but only if the price is right.

I used to be a huge ebay fan but stopped because it was getting to hard to find free shipping and their shipping rates were ridiculous. Amazon. I love Amazon, most of the time they have what I'm looking for and falls under their free shipping. Carol

Bev, that is one of the reasons that I don't charge SH on my website for anything less than $75. Hope your find what you are looking for locally.

Your site is one of a few who offer free shipping. It will keep customers coming back .

I too walked away from a lot of things and I am sure I will walk away from more.
When I thought it over, it was not worth double. For the record: "I am an Ebay Fan" ;D *2U

I have passed up a lot of so-called bargains because of the S/H charges. But, have any of you mailed a pkg. lately? I send things to my grandkids and the postage is usually as much or more than what the gifts are worth! My complaining doesn't seem to impress the postal dept!

Yes I agree and have not bought because of extortionate p&p.
Hope you now feel better as it is not just you

I ask my son (a 20 year old) to e-bay shop for me. He has a way of getting the best bargain. Don't know his method but I guess it's patience. I do have to plan for when he is home from University.

I hate when they do that. It's actually against their policy to jack up the postage. You can report them if you want. I quit selling through e-bay because there were too many ppl doing a lot of off the wall stuff. Bev you can sound off anytime. hehehe. Terre

Thanks Terre. I dont think I'll report them I'll just take my business elsewhere. They only hurt themselves.

Send them a message and let them know how you feel. Let them know they lost a sale. I stay away from Ebay just for that reason, They sell the item at a normal price, but rip you off on the shipping.
