I love my Metro thread! I live in Canada so had to pay a bit extra, but not that much since the exchange rate is good right now. I just bought the mini spools (1000 meters) and got the basic color package of 66 spools. I remember being all giddy when it arrieved - LOL!

for me metro is one of the best and the price is right...bad part is that they are in Texas, so I have to pay taxes.***

I've tried a few different brands of metallic threads, and found Superior brand to work the best for me. It doesn't break or twist, like the other brands did, so maybe that's why I like it so much. I've not tried any of the Metro threads. If I see it in a local store, I'll give that one a try as well.

When you find the one you like it is good to stick with it. I appreciate all of you helping me find the right threads, needles, and stabalizer. You are great

I have Sulky (purchased @ Hobby Lobby) and Gutermann (purchased @ Joann's). I have no problems with the Gutermann. I have a few problems with the Sulky. In all fairness to the Sulky those spools are only 110 yds so being wound onto a smaller spool logically causes more kinks. The Gutermann is 547 yds, so less curling. I would recommend you purchase your first metallic at a store and get the feel for it. I use very little metallics in my embroideries so a lot is not necessary.

The teacher from a class I've taken mentioned that Sulky threads weren't as color fast, they faded with washings. Have you noticed that?

I do not use a lot of Sulky for regular embroideries, I use metro primarily. Followed by Gutermann and RA. As far as "fading" of thread I would not pinpoint Sulky brand, I would focus on type of thread Rayon, Cotton, Polyester. Polyester does not fade the other 2 do. Maybe you should speak more in depth with the teacher about this.

I use Sulky pretty much exclusively since that's what is available locally and I haven't had the problem so far. I've washed some shirts and capris several times.

Hi Teri,
I love the Metro thread also...and so does my Baby Lock machine...
I haven't tried the metallic thread yet...maybe for Christmas.

Nancy, that is always the best way to do it - get a couple spools - if you like it - order a larger quanity. Threads and machines - are very different.

I want to order the boxed sets because they are cheaper, but I too wanted to make sure it worked. The boxed sets were out until Aug. I'm thinking that would be a great Christmas present for hubby to buy me.

I'm glad that you like the Metro thread. It works great on my Brother Quatro. Have fun shopping. With all of the colors that are available, it's hard to choose. Barb

Yippie, so happy you received your order and it worked on your machine - that is super. I have been buying metallic thread from the Embroidery Store for almost 7 years and Ih ave never had the troulbe that I have heard from others with Metallic Thread - I use a thread stand and a net - perhaps that is the key for me. 1-800-504-9757

My dealer told me that with metallic it's wise to go for the better (and pricier) ones, because here quality counts - less breakage, less trouble.

Also use special metallic needles.

shirlener88 by shirlener88 03 Aug 2010

That is how I look at it as well - get a good brand you will not have as much trouble - less time working with it.

Thanks for all of the tips
