I don't have a paid membership there or anywhere else for that matter. But DBS has tons of freebies every day for you to try before you buy, and they are random picks from all the design sets on the site. There is a daily freebie, hourly freebie and hourly free hunt.
Some here have said they have problems with some of the designs, but isn't that the case with pretty much any site? Not always, but a lot. If you download a freebie from DBS or any site, and it stitches poorly, then you know not to spend money on the entire set.
I don't have income to buy memberships from every site out there, and even if I did, I wouldn't. I like to pick and chose what I like. I don't collect just to collect. LOL

There is none better than right here where you are. Of course Amazing Embroidery Design is great also & owned by our own Ms. Veronika who owns Cute so it is an excellent choice also. *

Lillian, I know you are right and I will stay here where I know the quality but most of all the wonderful friends. The more I see SICK the more doubts I have. BTW I bought thread from them and it arrived today. I was charged and extra fee and e-mailed them and they said that the fee came from a company they use to process CC... Not sure now if I want to go there or not.

I had a membership to Sick a few years ago, but I found that their designs don't sew out well. For me it was a waste of money. The quality of Veronika's designs is consistent, and all that I have used have sewn out beautifully. I'll gladly wait for Veronika's designs to come out on any of her sites; at least I know that I'm buying quality designs

Thank you Barb, that is a good point. I'm not sure I have actually stitched out anything from SICK

Wait for a good sale on membership and you can get a very good deal. Not all of their designs are great but you can find very many really nice ones. I got 2 years for less than the regular price of 6 months. Don't know if I'll be able to renew as finances have changed but do enjoy being able to go on and download as I need designs.

Join...go in and dl all the designs you want or whole site....good investment. Then don't renew at least for a year or so to get all the new stuff. Wise thing to do at all sites except Cute as new designs here come out quickly and often.

I never joined DBS because they are always begging for money around income tax time and I figured if I ever bought a membership that would be the time they would go out of bussines. I check them out and get a free design now and then, but this is my first choice for a wonderful site and people also. Judy

I bought my membership on e-Bay - they have a store there too that sells designs, memberships, CD's (bought before the tax sale but I came out about the same in price). I am very happy with it - they offer many different types of designs (including in the hoop - that I like a lot). You get sooooo many designs for your money - everything they have out there plus a new set about every other day. That is a membership I will try to keep going.

I noticed they do have quite a bit to choose from.

One nice thing about DBS if you are not a member is that you can put a design in your cart, not purchase it right away and the sale price will still be there later. When there is a $1.00 design that interests me I put it in my cart and when I have several I check out getting the sale price.

Thank you for this info. I also have a hard time figuring out DK, maybe it's because I'm not a member. :)

I don't find a lot of designs that I can use on that site. I check it out every once in a while just to see if there's anything new.

I personally would not subscribe to Sick.
Although I have purchased many on sale.. I find just buying what I need is better with that site.
Check out all your options before you decide. Not fun buying designs you never use.

I enjoy DBS. I've been a member for a while. I renewed my membership for the next year, during the last tax sale, and paid less than the price of a normal 6-month membership. The renewed membership is added onto the end of the 6-month membership that I had then. Some sets don't interest me but many of them do and I've downloaded far more than the value of my membership. As well there are other areas to explore such as the forum, items of interest sent in by members, help if you need it.
Membership gives you the opportunity to download any and all of their design sets and that is value for your dollar. Even with just the new sets for six months, you'll get more than your money's worth.
DBS is differet from Cute Embroidery and I don't utilise all the facilities but I'm glad that I did renew my membership for the coming year.

Thanks Alma, I will look into the membership again. Yesterday was the first time I explored the area. I know she is a big company because she advertises in the CME and DZN magazine. I have gone to the forum but not participated. I LOVE CUTE most of all. But was looking at other options for designs. :) Thanks again...Terre

I purchased a two-year membership when Sean was having a sale. I have just over four months to go and it has been worth it for me. My husband will be happy when it expires since I'm on the PC more than the sewing machine. LOL I'm thinking about trying some other site after SiCK expires. Oh, why do we have to live within a budget?! LOL I discovered Cute Embroidery after finding SiCK and it's nothing bad about Cute; I had just bought the membership and then found this community of stitchers afterward.

If the price is right, I might just do both. We will have to see if there is a special going on. ;)

Ihave been a member at Sick ,the designs are good ,but I would wait for specials, there was a time when I had all 3 memberships at the same time ,but now have decided to alternate,to make it worth the investment.

IS DBS designs by Sick ?
I wait for the subscriptions to come on special which helps to make up for the losses occurring with currency conversions.I have had Designs by Sick , Cute embroidery & Amazing Embroidery subs .I've enjoyed having their memberships .I intend to rotate between these 3 ( 6 months of one, then the next etc ) because you can get the older designs as well as the future ones -more designs for your bucks this way

Do they have specials on their subscriptions? My Cute and Amazing overlap by three months. :)

killiecrankie by killiecrankie 07 Aug 2010

I've found that specials on memberships seem to be around Mothers Day ,the end of the finacial year (tax time)& Christmas .Mothers Day & tax time come at different times of the year depending where you live & these sites are USA or Canadian

What is DBS? Why are you not thinking about investing back into the Amazing Embroidery Designs?

DBS is designs by sick. I love Amazing and have saved many of their designs. I'm on the fence about DBS. Amazing doesn't give out very fast and a lot of them are not packages. Cute is still my favorite for many reason. I first tried 8claws and got what I needed there, and I've been to a couple of other places. I was just thinking of trying something different. I honestly don't understand how DBS works, I'm not good at their hunts, except this evening I was able to find two. LOL It is a little expensive to me. Much more than Amazing. I'm just rambling now. hehehe... It's time for bed. Nite Nite...

shirlener88 by shirlener88 07 Aug 2010

OK - I always just hear DBS called SICK - so I wasn't sure which site you meant - I am not a member of that site - so I can't help you there - CUTE and AMAZING are my only sub sites. I did used to go to SICK - get the freebies daily - don't use those designs much - so I haven't joined and don't know how the site works, either.

lflanders by lflanders 07 Aug 2010

I collect their designs daily as I think about it but I transfere them to desktop first and about half of the time, I will erase them when I get them brought up where I can see them. They do have some very good designs but some do not sew out very well. I got the set of angels with points and every time I tried to sew them, no matter what medium I was using to put them on, they did not sew out to my liking. I loved the angels with the saying like faith, love, happiness, etc. but never had any luck eith them. I have several of their sets some bought and some with points and I have found most of them sew out very well. I got an awful lot of points until they changed the way they gave them out so now, all I can get is 3 a day. It was not hard to get enough points to get a free set when you could get a point every hour for finding the Hunt design. No More since some people found a way to cheat the system. I am sure That Shawn lost alot of sales during that time from the amount of points some were raking up everyday. I do miss the fun of looking for the designs and getting the extra points!

ansalu by ansalu 09 Aug 2010

I had a membership at Sick and didn't renew it because I was dissapointed about the quality from one of their digitizers. I have many of their designs and I'm on the hunt every time I'm online (and I nearly find them all ;o) but for me it is enough to watch for the 1,-$-page if there is a desig I like or when they have special offers like the tax-sale every year. Then all design are 2,-$ and when you look often enough you luckily will catch the "happy hour" and all design are 50%less. Like lflanders I have some points there so I can purchase a design when I really badly need it and can't wait ;o)
I had once a membership at amazing but I didn't like that they have no search-possibility (or I'm too blond to find it) and I hate to scroll through the whole design-catalog :-( Same at Adoralbe Applique; the tags at the left site are only up to C...
