Here are some of my tips for moving having moved 14 times (plus several moves for my kids) I tell my husband if you can get me the boxes I will have a three bedroom, living area, dinning room, kitchen, basement, and garage packed in two days. I bark orders and tell them to "Just stay out of my way." My strategy is staging. I pack boxes, they tape and label and then stack in an area close to the door. Make sure to use clear plastic bags for bedding, pillows, clothing that you plan on moving as many people have thrown out possessions in the dark trash bags. To save time I use paper plates between a stack of 4 to six dinner plates then wrap in two sheets of wrapping paper (sometimes a bit of tape). Be care full if using newsprint as it can stain china, lamp shades, fabric items. Also, tape can be a real pain to get it started and the warmer it gets the harder it is to work with ~ try putting it in the freezer. The night before the move I prepare some empty boxes for bedding we are still using. Make a few extra boxes as you will be surprised to the little stuff left that needs to be quickly packed. Sandwich bags are good for the parts when you take something apart. Just use painters tape or some type of low tack tape and tape that parts bag to the item the parts go to. Easier to find when putting item back together at the new place. I use painters tape to tape the picture hangers to the back of pictures. Eat down your refrigerator and give food stuff to people that stop buy if they can use it. Good Luck.

OMG - can you come to my house?!!! LOL!! My mom used to be the same way. She woouldn't really start any packing until about a week before and then she'd get all gung-ho and go crazy packing. Sadly, she passed away many years ago, but I always remember that about her.

Funny story: my husband told me to be sure to label the boxes as to what's inside them. I couldn't believe he was serious because OF COURSE I would do that! I asked him why he said that to me and it turns out in all his moves that he did on his own he just threw things in boxes and didn't label them and he just wanted to make sure to tell me so it would be easier for me. I was so dumb founded that he would do such a thing - not once, but every time he moved - I couldn't stop laughing all day!!!

Canada is a beautiful area. Would love to come help you pack. I'm really good at it. Things got broke when the movers did the packing so I started to do my own packing. The few days before I pack I make sure items are together where they are supposed to be. Glad you took a break to check out the cute community.
