I am glad you got the machine running alright! Please be very careful about how you use the canned air. I have been told by several people that it is actually dangerous to use it. Seems it blows dust, and pieces of threads where they should not go and it could need to go into the shop to have those very tight evasive spots cleaned. I would much prefere to suck out the particals than to blow it into spots that a mechanic would have to take apart to get them out of! Everytime I have gone online, in my earlier years and said something about the air, I would get tons of post telling me NOT to use the air. I do not use it anymore nor have I used it in years. I see that no one here has mentioned it but the comments I got from my posts were enough to stop me from using it.
Carol, sometimes when I have a spool of thread that is constantly breaking I put the spool in storage bag and put it in the freezer for a couple of hours. So far this has worked for me hope it will for you too.
Yes, I have done that before with my quilting threads. Didn't think about that this time, so into the freezer it will go!
Thanks!
Carol, another reason for spool specific problems is you may have gotten to a spot in the spool were the tension was off in the factory when the spool was wound and therefore you are having problems now when it is coming unwound at that same point on your machine. These electronic tensions give us grief, any irregularity in tension as the spool unwinds and they complain. I have some spools that work fine when brand new and then gibble up as they get to the end of the spool and then some spools do the opposite. We just cannot walk away from these babies as they sew. Great feeling when you finely figure it out though isn't it.
That could have been the problem as I have used this color several times and didn't have a problem. Thank you for the info, good to know.
Glad it is fixed. I know sometimes I have had continual breaking with a thread that has been fine brfore. I pull off a few yards and try agind. Sometimes that does the trick.
I pulled some off, but maybe not enough. If it happends again I'll pull off more. Thanks!
Carol, so glad that time out worked. And to clean out it's ears just for good measure. hehehe... hugs, Terre
I had a spool of thread that ALWAYS broke when I was learning my machine. I marked it as trouble and knew I had to watch it like a hawk if I needed to use it. Glad you got the problem worked out.
Glad to hear things are better. There are some brands my machine simply doesn't like & they don't happen to be cheap brands. It does like the RA thread. Funny thing though, daughter has the same machine & what mine doesn't like, she has no problem with. *
Be careful with the canned air. I have heard you can also blow dust deep into your machine.
Carol, so happy to hear that you are up and running and you machine is over it's tantrum. They are funning about certain threads - I was having that same trouble this morning - left it for a bit and went back and changed colors and it worked fine. Happy Stitching, Shirlene
So happy for you.....I have around 160 spools of Coats and Clark thread and it sews great except for the black......contrary thread, who would have thought!
Black thread is notorious for breaking as the dye is so strong that it weakens the thread....even more costly dark colors will break a lot....try putting the spool in the freezer when you're not using it.
