Dh had heart failure when he saw what i lugged back to the hotel, just as well he didnt come shopping with me! Only managed the ground floor of the shop "Tomato"in Nippori, its a 6 storey store with fabric on all levels. The entire street in Nippori is dedicated to sewing, in fact the japanese have called Nippori Textile town! I had to jetison some much loved clothes at the hotel to fit it all in, ah the things we do for love, LOL. Ruth

Sounds like you have had a good time. I remember a wonderful fabric shop in Hiroshima, in fact I dont think I have ever seen so much fabric. I have been taken to see silk being woven in the Tango Penninsula and it was very interesting. I also remembering my husband dumping clothes in the rubbish bins in Kansi Airport... his clothes not mine due to the stuff he was bringing back. I have not visited Tokyo but plan to do so when we go again. I look forward to seeing some of your creations with some of this fabric.

Congratulations Ruth, sorry you had to jettison some of your things - I would have shipped it home. Can't wait to see what you bought - can you take pictures? Or whatever you make, please share in projects with us.

Ruth, perhaps I shouldn't tell you this but you can ship a box of treasures back home by ground (actually it goes by ship) for quite cheep. You could of course jettison some of your DH's clothing when he is not looking. LOL What fun do they have beads and sequins there as well?

Something I would love to do. I would probably go in a come from the joy of it all. Congratulations to your purchases. sounds like it has been a wonderful productive trip. Do they have mailorder? LOL. Once in S.A. I bought stuff, boxed it up & mailed it home to myself & to the family. It was the only way I could get home with it all. *

Sounds wonderful! My son and his fiance went to Japan 2 years ago for 2 weeks but only brought us back stuff from a store like a Dollar store in Tokyo but everything was made in China!!! They are going back for 3 weeks for a honeymoon in Oct. but they aren't going to Tokyo this time so I guess I won't get any pretty fabric!
