My mom used to do tatting for our dresses collars it is very prety but hard to do.***
I went to www.daintystitches.com, I spent about 2 hours on that site. She has sets (with 12+ designs each) reduced to $1.00 UNBELIEVABLE, so beautiful, only problem is deciding how many you can afford even at $1 per set, I found 20 sets I could not do without, plus I bought 10 each single designs for $1 each. Amazing lace, heirloom, jackobean, 3D dragonfly, butterfly, & flowers, in the hoop designs must see to believe it. WOW!!
Have fun buying! Indeed $1 can add up but I am sure you know your limits, LOL ;D *2U
Love to watch someone tat the old fashion way, especially when they go very fast. This is the one big craft, I never seemed to be able to master. Although I did wind up one time with a 6" strip of tatted lace. Still have it in the folder......haha
Tatting is one thing I've never tried. Very pretty though time consuming. I have however taught silk ribbon embroidery. Lots of fun, especially making them look like bumble bees, dragon flies and different types of flowers. I will have to post some pictures for you all.
Here are the new designs regarding 'tatting lace' at Stitch Delight.
Tatting Lace was originally done by hand and a shuttle.
Will put a pic of hand tatting.
OK, I remember seeing something similar on one of the craft shows back in the day. WOW! a lot of patience is needed but the results are BEAUTIFUL ;D *2U
Done that a lot in the past. It takes time but can be done watching telly and it does not take up much space, just one or two shuttles, depending on the pattern and the ball of yarn.
The ribbon embroidery is pretty cool looking. Thank you for the link.
My mom did tatting with a shuttle and made some amazing pansey doilys. I never tried to figured her shuttles (she wouldn't let us touch them) but learned how to do tatting with a needle. It was slow but I did enough tatting to trim a baby hat.
Dont these look just stunning
I have just purchased one of the new smocking ribbon designs cant wait till the weekend to try :-)
Big hugs from London
