A 5 hour drive is nothing, you will not regret, take some ladies with you, plan on staying overnight (great prices on rooms if you sign up) the show is always on Thursday, Friday & Saturday. You need to be present on one of the days to win the big prize. The first year I attended I won a $500 package of fabric,needles,threads, designs. Make a ladies weekend out.

Glad to hear you find a couple to go with you to NC. You absolutely will not regret the trip, take a lot of money you will be spending it. Hope you win one of the sewing/embroidery machines at the end of the day, but you need to be present to win.
