I have a brother machine and cards and I understand I can give things with them on it to my family and friends but not sell anything with them on it.
The Disney designs whether in your machine or from bought cards are personal use only, you may give embroidered items away, you may show them, but you may not sell them. It says so in the manual of my Brother 190D and on the Disney cards I bought.
I have a Brother machine with Disney designs (Pooh bear) embedded. I remember the dealer explaining that I may NOT sell anything I create with any of the Disney designs embroidered on it/them (personally I think this rule sucks, but hey). I believe gift-giving is fine, and so should uploading a photo of your creation be.
I've heard some wicked stories about Disney going after the little home sewist for selling something with one of their designs on it. They're a BIG corporation..one that I dont want to mess with, so I never even use my Pooh designs for gifts, only personal use. Luckily I love Pooh Bear (and his friends) & so do my children. :D xXx
I was wondering why they bothered also. I uploaded the towels I did in projects. Thank you all for your advice.
Interesting, isnt it? Of course the Disney designs are what attracted me to the machine, and yet all the rules *sigh*. xXx
If you have a Brother Machine, then you can design from their cards or designs. You can also sell them but not as your own of course. So if it is from a card, then you are fine. You can also so the stitches out but be sure you say where it is from so some don't get upset and assume you are abusing the copyright. :)
Thanks I have heard I couldnt use them except for personal use. I do things for my family. That is personal to me. LOL
No, that's not true, you are not allowed to sell any items not even for charity, it's strictly personal use only. And I have both a Brother machine and Disney cards.
sorry, I gave wrong info. I was told differently. I personally don't use them because of the copyright laws, I don't understand why they even bothered to put them in our machines. Oh well...
Are you talking about the legal Disney cards, or the the legal designs in some Disney machines, then yes that would be legal I would believe. If it is designs that came from somewhere else, then not so much.
