the wrong lane in Orlando and ended up stuck going to Universal but only the walk around part, I refused to pay $112 each person to get in to see rides I would not go on. Most time was spent on the road. Couldn't even see the beaches driving along Rt. 1, so called scenic route. Saw the ocean from one spot but could not get down to it, never felt the sand on my toes or ocean water, disappointed. Will try to post a couple of pics.

Debra, I am happy that you had a vacation - sorry it was all in the car - those are hard on the body. Your pictures are wonderful. Had you told us that you went to all the fun spots and enjoyed them - we wouldn't have known that you hadn't - Hehehe! I am thrilled that you had the time away from home with your hubby. Hugs!

Thanks Shirlene, it was nice to be away but while we were gone someone tossed around our patio furniture, emptied 2 bags of our rubber mulch onto the driveway and swing, knocked over the swing and bent the hangers for my 2 best solar lights. Hard to enjoy yourself when this stuff happens! We live in a decent neighborhood and there are no teens here, all the kids were ones that are 30ish now and then new families with very young kids.

Did you see the light/lazer show at Stone Mt? If they are still doing it, it is awsome! I love St. Augustine & it's history. Did you drink from the fountain of youth? (the water tastes sorta nasty!). Sorry you didn't get to see the beach. We don't usually go on vacation in the summer time! We wait for the tourist season to end..one of the perks of being retired. Hopefully it's better next time!

No, didn't see any show but we were there during the afternoon and nobody mentioned it to us! How dare they! DH had been there before we met. Missed the fountain of youth too, saw the sign but passed on it, lol! We are retired now too, don't know why he decided we should travel in basically the hottest month! Our glasses fogged up every time we got out of the car!

My sympaties. My hiusband just did a similar vacation, 4 states and 1500 iles in 10 days. Next time that you go to Florida, go the Northwestern section (the Panhandle) and stay in a place along the Gulf. It is beautiful. The sand is fine and very white. It is so peaceful and relaxing to sit and watch the waves roll in and the people having a good time. Have dinner in a restaurant on the beach and watch the sunset. Absolutely gorgeous. Our home is near there and we loved going to Panama City Beach and staying at the Sunspree resort. All rooms have a balcony and face the beach. And here I am stuck in North Dakota. Oh well, I can dream.

Thanks, we did 2595.3 miles leaving on Wednesday morning and arriving home on Monday afternoon. I just read your post to hubby and I will write it down and save it and go when it isn't so darn hot!

Next time we fly and stay longer. We have 2 cats that had to be fed twice a day. The older sick one is trying to get me to go to bed right now but I have a load of clothes in the dryer so she is out of luck for now.

I am so sorry too, I know all those theme parks are getting very expensive, especially if do not go on any ride, like me, just to walk around and pay more than 100 dollars, no way!!!! But at least you got out of your routine, that helps your body and soul!

I keep getting "error 2" on pics so just these 2. The first one is me at Stone Mountain GA and the second is at St. Augustine FL at the only place we got to see the ocean. DH has no patience so I didn't get to try and get to the ocean. If we ever go again we will fly and stay at a beachfront hotel.

Oh Debra, I'm sorry you were rushed during this vacation, but you did get one. hehehe.... I have vacationed in about 5 yrs. (long story). I would never pay that kind of money to do anything like that. You are right, it would be a waste if you don't ride anything. In this economy I don't see how ppl afford something like that. (I have a feeling some even put off paying their bills just to say they have been.) Anyway, I'm sorry you didn't get to enjoy the beach and A1 isn't what it used to be either. Look forward to the pictures though. LOL...

I know, we spent $833 for gas, motels and eating and my little souvenirs that were $5 from each state but missed 2 so disappointed there. Hubby retired in Nov and the house will be paid off soon and 2 credit cards will be within a year so we saved and paid cash for it all. Won't be able to do anything like that for a long time and this was the first time we were gone more than one night in about 30 years so we deserved it.
