Ok I have a question that will probably sound dumb BUT when doing a lace design do I just sew it on to a tearaway or water soluble backing? Yoriko made a crane and I would really like to make it.

WSS, trim your lace leaving around 1/2 inch. around, sew the pieces by machine usign zig zag then submerge lace in warm water.

Hi. If you want free-standing lace (FSL) use water soluble stabilizer. Use a fairly heavy weight or more than one layer, especially if the design has very dense stitches. Visit Embroidery Library where you should find some instructions in their projects section.

Enjoy!

Go to www.emblibrary.com and click on Projects, they have instructions for all sorts of machine embroidery techniques. Margaret

Use water soluable stabilizer (WSS). Rinse out the WSS when finished sewing and let it dry. Have fun.

Water Soluable Stabilizer (WSS) if it is FSL (Free Standing Lace).
