I like the fact that you can buy the modules you need with Buzz Tools and it will be about $500 cheaper to go that route, but ... is the extra money worth it?

Definitely try the free trials of anything you are considering - that is the best way to know if it is the right "fit" for you and if it will do what you want it to do. I just bought Embird because it is widely used (so you know alot of people have tried it and liked it) and the "basic" allows me to do simple editing (which is all I am wanting to do right now) for less than $150. If I want to do real digitizing later I can buy that module then.

Try a 30 trial of Buzz Tools first. Then try 30 trial of Embird. Since both allow you too. Good Luck.

Thanks! I just found out that to get the cross-stitch program to add to the Janome software is another $500. So that takes the cost up to $2000 total. Ridiculous! I've tried the Buzz Tool trials and found it to be easy to use. I had tried the Embird a while back but didn't find it so easy to understand, but will give it another try. This community is great!

I have the same machine and would like to know the answer to this also. My dealer said to leave the digitizing to the pros and not do it as it is so time consuming. Is it really or was she telling me this for another reason?

there is a real learnig curve, but once you get it, digitizing is quite fun! but the time...well, if you have the time or can find the time, then go for it! it does consume lots of time! but, I still love it...just can't wait to get more time this winter to play with Embird! If you have a desire, buy it.

thanks for your advice. May try it in a year or two, I want to just embroidery right now, but I have a need to do my own designs as I am kinda artistic in a funny way.
