I am so glad so many are on my side; however I do admit things are in a state of array and I am willing to live with it, but I realize my sewing room is not presentable to the public. i will put it on my to do list after Christmas, Ha! ! Ha!!
glad to see I am not the only one that looses things. You did like I usually do put it a safe place then forget were it is. I am still looking for the title to our truck LOL put it away when we took off for 4months and now we can't find it, hoping this move will make it turn up. It is going to take a while for me to get use to my new sewing room since it is so small right now but I packed everything real good just hope I can find it all LOL
Oh ,sweetie , a title is important. perhaps the state will issue another one.
Glad you found it. I bought material for a project. Used it for 3 of the 30 items. I now can not find it!! So, I bought some other material. I found a better design and will not use either of them when I find the lost material!
Last week I looked and looked for my 1c foot that I had lost. When I finally gave up I put on a 10 foot that I wondered what I used it for. I finally looked on Berninas site and the 10 didn't look like what was on my machine. When I looked closer the 10 had turned into a 1C. Time to get thes eyes fixed.
Glad you found your fabric! I love this post - it is so great to know I'm in good company :)
Yes things always turn up in pecular places .The bandage that went missing turned up in the wardrobe this morning & husband DID put it there .
Yayayay *doing the happy dance for you* :D
um, dont suppose my pinking shears were hiding with your fabric were they? lol
Yanno my daughter came home from school the other day and said "did you know that in your lifetime you spend one year looking for lost items?". My answer: is that ALL? I'm sure I've spent more time than that already lol. xXx
I'm sure that I've used up my year of looking.- time wasted helping husband look for things he has misplaced & now I refuse to go on wild goose chases & just say it will turn up eventually. Personally on my own wild goose chases I turn up interesting items along the way which means more time wasted with these ,not looking for the original item.
eeewww-you are reminding me of what I have to look forward to..we had new carpeting put in this last week throughout the house and everything is still Topsy Turvy. Been busy doing other things. I live in a mobile home and everything had to be boxed up and put in the shed or dining area. With a 2 yr old grand daughter and 1 yr old great grand daughter I need to get busy for Christmas. I was smart enough to put stars on the boxes I knew I would need right away but worried I may have missed a few.I usually have to put a note to myself on the freezer or ask someone before I can locate anything I have misplaced. I am so happy you found what you were looking for...frustration is not a good feeling.
nous sommes toutes egales ; Il NE Faut rien Ranger ! ! brodeuse 77
CONGRATULATIONS, now enjoy sewing the fabric you have found. Doesn't it feel great when you have found something mislaid. And thanks for letting us know you found it
I found it!!!! I was ready to give up, but determined not to buy more fabric. I decided to straighten up my felt pieces. I keep them together by color. There my collegiate was, sandwiched between the felt fabric in a clear vinyl zippered blanket bag. I am so happy. You would have thought I found a hundred dollar bill.
Yippie, I am so happy for you - now - where will it be returned to - if any fabric is left - so we can all remind you. Hehehe!
This happens to me all the time I clean a little and then I'll look in the same places over and over, so frustrated....finally I say a prayer and most of the time it turns up.....sometimes I even find things in places that I didn't know were there....I have lots of plastics and containers for storage and organizing but this still happens...I sure hope you find your fabric.....Janet
Katy my dear. Have you found it yet? I've been reading all these again & have come to the conclusion that it is the person that has everything so neatly organized & perfect with nothing out of place that needs help. We are all normal, there's just too many of us alike for us to be abnormal. LOL
Oh , sweetie this is day 4 and I have hurt my back going into old boxes and plastic bins that I knew was a waste of time. i am so frustrates and i know it is silly. Just makes me so mad. Kay
Kay what kind of fabric is it? When did you purchase it? Did you buy any other fabric at the same time? Do you have a "to do" stach? This all went thru my mind as I read about your delemma. I laugh at Deanna, because she reminds me of myself when she can not find what she is looking for at the time. Another reason I find it funny is she is so much more organized then I am. H&*
I'm right on the same page. Put new hard floors in my sewing room and boxed up all my sewing things. (Actually threw everything quickly in tubs so the floor could be put in).... well of course now I can't find anything. Today I found the t-shirts I needed in August for a beach trip. I have spent the whole day trying to sort the tubs of supplies. I'm looking for Halloween stitch out designs. I wish you luck I found a few thing today. But my living room looks like someone ransacked it !!! I need more tubs, space and a husband that won't freek out everytime I let my stuff leek out of my sewing room! LOL.... He's really good but I like the mess sometimes!! Sorting all my treasures is so fun to me! No wonderful I get very little done!!!
Hi cuties!
Sorry to hear about your losses. I'm in the same boat you are in. I guess everyone has that in their blood. We all need detectives to find things. Anyway, I purchased some ziplock bags, one & two gallon ones, and I stash my fabrics there, with a label marked # of yardage. Never ever store them in a shopping bag. You'll never find them. I also store some things in alphabetical order. easier to locate. On top of my machines I have individual (pencil)boxes with scissors, tape measure, rippers, extra needles, bobbins,(I use a tall pill container)screw drivers, twizzers and a dental mirror, etc.
It's hard to keep track when you concentrate on a project. Hope you find your stash! happy stitching!
Sukiray.
Thank you! I try to be. too many gadgets and fabrics when sewing, and embroidering, and when you have a limited space, you have to take control (I am really very easy going)...;)Sukiray
Well as you had to clean up your stabillizer I would go through that - spread it out onto your table (Dinning) then look at the next lot you cleaned away as it could be in something you cleaned away or where you put it to sort out at a later date. Good Luck.
I haven't been able to find anything for a while & a lot is being thrown out as I had a flood from a broken washing machine hose Insurance held me up for a long time. most they won't cover as I had my roll of water soluble standing on the floor, What a big sticky mess. Ins. guy said it was glue & when I demostrated with a small bit it disapeared so he said he was right & I was wrong. felt like wetting it & spreading it on the floor of his car. I just gave him the look of how dence are you. *4u all
Ladies you just don't KNOW how much I am laughing right now! I hope my hubby doesn't ask me what's so funny as I'm sure he won't see the humor. I have probably lost everything you gals have lost before too!! I get so upset & then it just appears. What's worse is hubby can come out into my VERY messy sewing room & just pick it up! I'm so sorry you've lost the fabric (it'll show up about basketball time) but you have given me a good laugh from all the comments AND answers! I think we are all alike!!
Kay, hope you are able to locate your 'stash'. What colour is the plastic bag?????
I now have labled boxes in my sewing room. I used to leave it in the plactic bags but then could not find certain fabrics. Best to use the see through plastic to see what is inside. Good luck. Helen
I have no idea!! I had fleece, cotton flannel and broadcloth with Tennessee, lady Vols, Georgia and a couple others. Enough to roll up and put in a large shopping bag.
hehehehe.Sometimes I forget to take them out of the shopping bag. (I told you I'm a fabriholic) LOL. I actually go through this quite often. hehehe... I actually have a HUGE zip lock bag under my desk that houses all the leftover stabilizer and when I need a little extra it is right at my knees and I can grab what little I need. :) Well I'm not much on psyche so I can't help you there, but to tell you maybe if you thought of a room you haven't cleaned up it might be there. hehehe... If you have looked under collegiate, do you have maybe a school or sports box? Do you color code your stashes? Maybe it will be under a certain color.
There are some interesting coments here. Sounds like we should form our own little group of the 'Lost it Cuties'. My husband wonders how I work in my organised 'mess' but I can usually put my hand out for what is required. Katydid I look forward to hearing where you found what you are looking for and to keep reading everyone elses comments. Tomorrow I must have a sort out in my room at work... nothing is missing that I am aware of apart from a set if dice which I think ended up in the rubbish bin
Kay do you have a drawer where you put special fabric. A while back I couldn't find something I stashed & it was in a drawer where I sometimes put special fabric. took me a month to find it & then I was looking for something else. I put on closet shelves, bags under bed, desktop to ceiling shelves, I have it stashed everywhere. LOL. In & on top of file cabinet, even in hot tub rm. . In shopping bags, it's everywhere. Did you maybe already have some things already done & put it with them? I sometimes do that. It will turn up. *
Oh! Lillian, I think you are my sole mate. i never let people see my sewing room, but i would invite you in a minute. Kay
Lillian you are also like me. I started out putting my fabric in boxes. Soon I ran out of boxes--now it has overflowed to shelves, drawers, and, last but not least, there are stacks of fabric along most of my bedroom walls. H&*
OH MY GOODNESS....if you were to ask dlmds about me she would laugh....I am constantly telling her i have it but just can't find it...especially after I put it some place so I wouldn't loose it...hehehe...sounds just like me....I just quit looking for it till I need something else then I find what I am missing the first time around....good luck hunting....deanna
That is so irritating, but it happens to my everyday!!!LOL. *****
Oh it is soooo true. This weekend I had to make 5 pillows for the Nursery school. I made them, tidied up and when I wanted to put the stuffing in, all 5 was missing. I looked everywhere as well as in the laundry basket, but could not find them. At last I took out the leftover material to cut some more and there they were, all neatly folded up between the left overs! A whole day went into the searching, so I hope you find your fabric.
That is like folding a tissue sewing pattern and placing it back into the envelope before the project is finished. 9 times out, you will take it back out again.
If I tidy up, I have a chance of finding it later--if my husband tidies up, I might as well go to the store and buy another one of whatever it is.
Husbands should not be allowed to make decisions concerning our sewing supplies unless they want to pay for them.
every time I have a real clean up mood, and everything all looks nice and organised: I cannot find a thing, because i cleaned or organised too well. So I like the saying:
"a clean desk is a sign of a sick mind".when it looks unorganised I can find everything on the wright place .So: you're not allone :)
I tend to put thing in related piles, for example I bought fabric to make a sheer curtain, and lost the fabric for 4 months (no kidding!)...turned out to be in a small plastic shopping bag, in a stack of fabric intended to be... you guessed it - curtains! urgh.
Oh and I wish there was a rule about the missing item reappearing: I buy a replacement but the original never turns up most of the time..whats with that? 4 little people (children) perhaps? lol
I hope you're going to let us know where it was when you find it. Theres bound to be a laugh in it :) xXx
Yes - I have a couple pair of scissors that I can't find now. Where could they have gone?
do you know how many times my scissors have fallen tin in my waste can beside my machine. I always check it carefully before emptying.
Isn't it odd how we put things in a "safe" place only to have it so "safe" we can't find it again when we want it! Not a psychic but Good Luck.
If you buy more, that is the way that it will turn up!!! It never fails!! My room looks like a bomb hit it!! I have a baby girl GD coming in Dec. Need I say more!!!
Ah so I am not the only one who needs to tidy up her sewing room. When stuff goes missing it usually reappears but not when required
Same here. I just dont look directly for it and it just seems to appear. You ma be overlooking it "looking for it"
I know how you must be feeling.
I have two, three and five of some things just because I couldn't find them. I found that it was just easier to go buy another one instead of digging and hunting. This always happens when I re-arange and move things to a new safe place. I thought it was just me, sure glad I'm not the only one that has this problem. Good Luck!
The freezer? Just kidding...maybe. No, wait, that's where I look for the car keys :)
I will pray to St.Anthony for you to find your stash. He always helps me find my lost things.
From Bev
Foot ball is a winter sport, so do you have a winter collection.Sometimes its right under our noses but our eyes & brains refuse to co operate so we can see it.
On Monday I washed ,folded & placed a bandage on the made bed & now we can't find it -looked everywhere, just waiting for it to turn up in some stupid place (reckon husband moved it & doesn't remember where he put it).
Well so much for finding a psychic here, seems every one of us is missing something. I always put things in a special place that I will remember and then when I need it I forget what special place I put it. Buy more and I promise that as soon as you finish using it the old stash will surface! I know, thanks for nothing, lol!
Gee, I wish I could help you, but my room looks like a bomb went off in it. I have fabric, stabilizer, thread, scraps, projects everywhere. I lost a pair of scissors for several days, then found them under fabric. Why were they there? I don't know, I guess I put them down then threw the fabric on top of them. Hey, maybe I need to go search your sewing room for your fabric and you can clean up mine.
Make it four, I am in the process of deciding how to organize fabric, cause I have it in about 3-4 different places. And I have to hunt each time I start a project.I always wanted a sewing room and now I have one and can't get it organized. what's with that you think, I guess I have been on Cute too much LOL.
Love your comment about always wanting a sewing room and now can't get it organized! That sounds just like me! We're in an apt and the 2nd bedroom is my sewing/craft room and it's always in disarray. I know I have something but can't find it!
Oh yes often I cannot find where I have put things.
But then again, I actually have organized chaos...hehehe.....
Maybe pretending you don't need it will help?
I have the same problem. I have multiples for the same reason. Lots and lots of drawers that I don't want to label because next thing I know I need to rearrange. Started to walk around with my camera taking pictures of the inside of drawers and they are in a folder named "WHERE IS". Does it help? Somewhat.
Been there done that.....You need to just sit.. now look around.. you will find this in the most obvisous place.. sometimes it is right in front of you and you don't see it.
Oh my! Have you been hanging around me? I now own more tape measures and seam rippers than is necessary :) Sit on the floor or chair and take a few deep breaths....now look around the room slowly. Do you see it? Good luck dear.
I know you are not the only one....there are many of us. It's organized clutter :)
If you are like me, as soon as you quit looking and start on something else, it will come back to light again.
Kay, you poor dear - to have something and not be able to find it - think - where would be the place that you would organize it into? As Jerrilyn has said - try the FALL - that sounds logical. Bless you dear.
I kept thinking it was in a shopping bag with all collegiate and I Can not find it!!
well that is a start - the bag with all collegiate - now where would you put that bag? What drawer or cabinet would that be?
You know - I just went through a bin of fabric - that my Mother (Miss Loretta) had - that was in my storage unit - I had to laugh at all the little projects that she had - not a one past the cutting stage. Hehehe!
