And I read somewhere that a good way to clean out loose threads is to thread the machine with a good length of dental floss and pull it through toward the needle. I haven't tried it though so can't say for sure whether it works or not.
Hugs n roses, Meganne
I tried with a thicker thread - the ones meant to sew on buttons - it works well.
Thanks for the word of warning about machine care. Guilty also but, I'd not heard of this much trouble before.:~D
It sure is hard to change what you've been doing for years, I didn't listen either!!! I am happy that they solved your problem. Hugs, Judy
Glad to hear your machine is better and I expect you will try to look after it better. I know that the thread should be removed via the needle BUT there are times I forget and pull up ...
What sort of machine do you have?
Brother 4500D Duetta Yes and even better didnt cost me anything. I mean for the repairs
That was one of the first lessons I was taught when I got my new Janome. I guess it is more important now with all the electronic reading it has to do than the old mechanical machines of yesteryear. I remove thread from the needle now and have a beautiful tall jar with lots of layered thread to prove it....it will be made into a new mesh fabric later this month. I can't hardly wait to try this again. Did this years ago, but just pulled threads off the spool then....
Bet you will find more of us guilty ones hanginout around here-guilty#2. Of course, I've hardly gotten around to much sewing yet..HEEHEEHEE.
Now, we might pay attention.
I didn't know this.I have been doing the same thing.now i will cut mind and pull from the needle.
