With me it depends a bit on the size of the design and whether I think they'll be used or just looked at :) Large design I'd usually put in the lower RH corner to leave enough towel still left to use. That also works if people decide to use the tape that is across a corner of some to hang them up.

I bought some of those flour sack towels, and they are big. I think either a corner design or centered above the hem or maybe even a border would be good. Hope they turn out nice for you.

I love the flour sack towels - I also like that they are big - if you think it might be too big - cut it in half or forths and hem it up - I like the middle on the hem side - but it depends on how it will hang in the kitchen of your SIL really. All things need to be personalized to the use of the one receiving them - don't they? Hope you share the finished item in projects for us all to view.

Shirlene, what have you done to me????
Now I want to do towels as gorgeous as these.
I thought I was giving my projects list a short rest and now it's all buoyed up again to do fruit and cups of coffee on towels. I love teapots and coffeepots and all manner of cups.
.............but what are flour sack towels? Maybe I can get some when I go over to America in November.
It's so early in the morning and my mind is racing ..........

Thanks to all who repsonded. I was trying to decide if I want it centered on the hem edge, as I usually do towels (of any type), or if I should try something different and put it in a corner. Looks like most prefer the hem edge. These flour sacks towels are large and I'm not sure how she will use it.

Sciencewidow - I have the same trouble, trying to get folks to actually USE the items I give them instead of keeping them for when company comes to visit.

That's one reason why I am using the flour sack towels this time. They are economical and utilitarian. I'm just giving it a wee upgrade.

Thanks to all, and have a great weekend!

Centered a few inches above the hem is what most people seem to do.

I like to put mine in the center of hem edge. It seems to make them more professional, to me. Hugs, Judy!!!

I like mine centered on the hem edge about 2 inches up.

I place mine in the corner. Please show us when they are done.
