Here's a picture of how I do it. (It's an old 12mnths shirt I keep as a spare for visiting grands, I hooped it for demonstration purposes only.)
Thanks ...it helps so much to get to see it...I was trying to make everything stretch to fit the frame...I see here it doesnt have to...is that stabilizer on the frame and is that sticky stabilizer under the shirt?
As I only did this to demonstrate how it's done I used the old stabiliser that was still in the hoop, hole and all and pinned an extra bit over it.
Normally I would use a sticky stabiliser for stretchables like this onesie.
sounds like you have some good answers - I pin mine onto the very soft to the touch stabilizer and out of the way - mostly outside rolled & pinned around the edges of the inside of the hoop.
When I do the small shirts and onesies I do not hoop them. I fix, or pin the shirt to the stablizer and make sure that I have the balance of the shirt secure so that it will not fall within the stitch area. Normally the design is not that large and I have found that this is the easiest way to do them. Good luck with your project.
I have a brother 770 and I thought you had to attach the hoop for it to work....
Cherry, you do have to keep the hoop attached. I've not tried this, but I guess you could attached the hoop but not the shirt. I was having the same trouble there is two solutions I found, one is buy a smaller hoop, the other is using a seam ripper and open one side then do your design, and seam it up again when finish. If you have a serger it makes it so much easier, if not use a tight zigzag. I'm sure someone might have even a better solution. :)
Yes you do have to attach the hoop - just do not hoop the shirt to the stabilizer.
What is mts?
Usually with shirts you have to sort of turn the shirt inside out around the hoop (pull it up and roll it in toward the hoop after it's hooped) then carefully pin the edges back.
I forgot to say that I would not hoop the shirt itself either. I would hoop the stabilizer and use an adhesive spray to stick the shirt then basting stitch around embroidery area. Or, the soft iron on permanent stabilizer directly on the shirt then do the above instructions. The soft iron on stabilizer can be used to cover the design too.
