I tried something today that I have never stitched with. That is the glow in the dark threads. Well, I can't say that I like them. But the thread could be old - could that cause all of the breakage? The thread came from the family of my friend that past away. I did not really know what it was. It was just labeled "Moonglow" by RA. I had to slow my machine down - about like sewing with the metallics. But this is cute, and I plan on sending it off to a Great-great nephew that we met for the first time when we took our trip to Texas. This is from the design pack Halloween Lace by Anita Goodesign. The scarecrow had 19006 stitches. I used the glow in the dark in the bobbin also. There is only 500 yds on these spools, so you don't get much out of the spool. But it does glow in the dark, as this picture shows. LOL

I like this very much but the Glow in the dark thread is soo expensive for just a little spool, moist of the time I use it just for accents like little stars.

This is great, us Cape Town Cuties took a trip to the Seralon Factory in Bellville not far from us, and spent more than two hours talking about the threads they supply with their sales manager, and he gave us each one of these spools (made by Madeira). I have not used mine yet, but I am telling you, when I switch my lights of in the night, this little spool glows like a light. I will defnitely try it out now.
Well done, and thanks for sharing it with us

Use the styrofoam method that I described in a earlier placing on projects not so long ago. I found it prevents little knots from forming, and this prevents the breakage.

Lovely scarecrow. I have some glow-in-the-dark Madeira thread - have had it for years - I'll give it a try.

What a great scarewcrow. I want to get some glow-in-the-dark thread. It would also be nice for tree decorations.

This is Great! was the thread a rayon or poly? If it was cotton, that make it difference. I was told not to use cotton on while I embroider so I'm careful about that. I think this turned out really Great. Thanks for sharing.

I've used cotton embroidery thread that was over 30 years old for heirloom embroidery without any problems.

I also use cotton as long as I embroider and it is the best there is, Yvonne

I've embroidered with some glow in the dark by RA and didn't have any problems, so I'm thinking the thread may have been old. Love your scarecrow, think the ggn will too.

WOW! How adorable.
Try using a drinking straw on the spool holder. Somehow the thread straitens out and it doesn't break. Also a larger needle is helpful. I do that when I stitch with metalics and never have breakage problems. You did a beautiful job regardless. Sukiray
