Always use a variety if your are trying to sell them! If it is for yourself or family, do what they like bset. Nothing is written in stone. If I like the design, it makes no difference to me about the size. I wear alot of knit polo shirts that have several buttons ot the neckline so I usually put a 4X4 or 5X7 design on the top right side on the front for myself. If I am putting initials in a frame I usually use a polo shirt and put it in the front, Just initial go on the top right front which would make it the left side if you are looking at it from the front. I have just taken some pictures and will poat them in projects of a bit of my work that I have done for myself.

Use any size that you like. Put several 4x4 designs on. It is all in what you want to do. You are the artist. Isn't it fun!

I am green with envy that you can ask the question and that the other can answer with 5 by 7 and 6 by 10, boo hoo, I only have a 4 by 4 so I am stuck with everything smaller than that. Oh how I wish I could afford a better machine with a bigggggggg hoop! Don't see it in my future, lol!

The 4x4 also have a multi-postional hoop that you can purchase. I bought one after I got my 4x4 machine and that's how I made several designs appear larger by combining them. Leenova I don't have the one I desire yet but I plan to FIESTA ANYHOW ;D *2U

I like big designs on t-shirts - that is the craze right now. The bigger the better, unless is it for a small child or baby. What is your largest hoop - as big as that hoop will allow or just smaller - but it does depend on the design and where you are using it, actually it is personal preference as with anything else.

I like the 6 x 10 hoop. I was go glad when my granddaughters finally grew into a t-shirt that I did't have to sit and hold to keep the shirt from getting in the needle. I have even used safety pins and hair clips to hold the shirt out of the needle. When working with a large men's t-shirt, sometimes it is hard to position the design.

Monica, to me it depends on the size of the t-shirt, what the design is and where you want to put it. For instance with a child you want to keep small no larger that 4.5" if it is too large it will look out of place on the shirt, if it is near the shoulder, then I make it smaller. If it is for the back yoke I make it wider and narrower. etc... This is just the way I do it. I'm sure there is not right or wrong with most ppl. It's really what pleases the eye. ;) Hugs, Terre

I used to just have a 4x4 hoop, and thats what I used, but when I got my 5x7, I plan to use designs that fit it. Seems to me in most cases, a 4x4 is small on a T-shirt. Just my opinion!!! Hahaha! Hugs, Judy
