I called and asked about the ad and she just told me it was lots and lots of stuff. And she only wanted 20 dollars for all of it. She wanted it gone. So i went and bought it. I threw away a 30 gallon trashcan of yarn and crochet cotton because it smelled like perfume. My son made 4 trips to carry all the stuff. Now the good part of my story. The workbaskets. She put the years together in binders and they go back to 1956. I found 1 from feb 1956 the year and month I was born. They were 15 cents then. I have them from the 60's and 70's. Don't know how many there are but I know it's over 100. Also crochet and craft magazines. Bags and bags of crafting books. I be looking thru them for awhile. There is also patterns for baby clothes, aunt marthas transfers and a button box. I don't crochet so if anyone does who would like crochet pattern magazines I would send them out for the price of postage. I'll sort thru them, if you would be interested in any pm me, I'm off to look thru the goodies

Would love to have the button box. Buttons are a treasure to me. Crazy huh?

Goodness Bev, it sound like you hit the jackpot. Instead of throwing all that yarn away, I would have donated it to a school art class, or church, or one of the many 2nd hand stores like Goodwill or Salvation Army. You'd be surprised how many wouldn't mind that it smelled of parfum (cheap or expensive.) hehhee...And the Workbasket Magazine, depending on the condition, there is probably someone on e-bay that might collect mags like that. It would be worth checking into also. :) Have fun going through all those goodies.

The yarn was in bad shape besides being just smelly. I kept the good stuff and will share the books I don't want. I'm not looking to make any money on these , just pass them on to someone who will enjoy them.

I would suggest you contact a local charity or church or sewing groups through your local yarn store and you will find someone to take the magazines off your hands. Don't through them away for sure as they are a history of our mothers' and grandmothers' time and of women's work. If that fails to help, contact me and I will gladly pass them onto my local charity.

I have some of those older ones that were my grandmother's. Love them. I look at craft magazines today, and they don't hold half as much info as the old ones gave us. Enjoy!

You hit the motherlode! Well, of course, I'm sorry to hear the lady's mother passed away.
I'm sure someone will come along that will want the crochet magazines (I can't add to my stash anymore for lack of room.)
Happy reading!
