Shirlene I had 2 broken toes in August so I am well aware of the pain. One of my toes, the Great toe on my left foot continues to be black and blue because of it bleeding so badly inside. I broke the 2nd one the day before I left to drive to Michigan. Go to the Dr., never happene, just taped together wore strap sandels with nothing touching the toes, hobbled everywhere I went & hurt like the devil. some people would say I was a tough old bird but have broken so many toes since I love to go barefoot in the house. I get in a big hurry & wind up catching them on a chair leg. You will get better but it will take time.

Oh - I already feel better Miss Lil' if you got through it and you were on the road - I know I can, too. I am always without shoes in the house, too. I appreciate you saying I will get better, how are your toes, now?

Still having some difficulty with closed toe shoes. Hope it doesn't get cold real soon cause these sandles are all I can wear.

Gee Shirlene. What next? I hope your toe is going to heal soon. Tough when one has a hard time walking. Having Arthritis in one of my ankles I can imagine what it must feel like. Please heal soon.

Angie dear, it was a stupid fall - but I will heal - not as quickly as I want - I have been told at least a couple weeks - up to six more than likely - but I am watching what I am doing and being very careful as not to hurt it worse. Thanks!

Oh Shirlene, I feel for you. I broke my pinkie toe years ago. Just taped it up and took something for pain and ice for swelling. Had to wear sandals for a while. Can't remember how long it took to heal. I pray you have a speedy recovery.

Rick had appointments in Salt Lake City today and I had to drive him there and back - I was able to get my foot in a shoe - which I was so surprised that I could - I have been walking on my heel mostly and had my two toes taped together - it was funny - as when we walked in - no one knew if I was the client or it was Rick - lol. You just have to laugh at things things - don't you?

Broke two bones in left foot and they put a cast on me up to my knee. Eleven days later I cut it off. Then I broke seven bones same foot but not the two from before (refused cast for gauze and tape). I've got this down to a science now. The third day hurts the worst. If you were closer I could give you some of my cough syrup with codeine for your discomfort. lol Putting more weight on good side or shifting your posture my cause the good hip to hurt. I put a flashlight app. on my cell phone so I use that to walk around in the dark now. I feel bad for you because I know how inconvenient this situation is for you taking care of your husband.

Hi! i have broken many a toes over the years by going too fast and wrapping them on things. I know how it hurts. All they do at the hospital is tape them to the next toe. It takes the pressure off. So after the first couple of times now all I do is tape the two toes together with the tape they use for bandages. Give it a try it really helps especially when walking. Tape the broken toe to the one before it tight but not too tight you cut off the circulation. Leave it that way until it feels better. Hope that helps!! Suzanne

Shirlene, so sorry to hear about your fall. Gee, we don't land as easy as we did years ago do we? My DH has broken his toes over the years on the coffee table leg and I know how much it hurts him. Of course being a goof ball, he always tells me to call a Tow Truck. Will pray you will have a quick recovery. God bless, Judy

Oh No Shirlene.... OUCH!!! I've broken my toe, actually I've broken two toes, different times, the funny thing is it was the same digits on opposite feet. LOL... My foot was black and blue for awhile. Tape, ice, elevate and crutches and 800mg of motrin was all they could do. Both times was doing the same thing with the same furniture leg, just one was coming, the other was going. hehehe And yes it was in the dark too. Do you think I've learned from that? Not one bit. I still walk around in the dark. Just moved the table. hehehe... Seriously though I hope you heal quickly. Do you have crutches or a cane to help you move around? I know how painful it is when the blood rushes down to your toes. whew! Makes my eyes water thinking about it...Still keeping you and Rick both in prayer. Let us know how your getting along. Hugs... Terre

Terre, thank you - you made me feel better - knowing you did it twice with the same piece of furniature - at least this was new and I was distracted - Hehehe! I will do all that you suggest - except the cruthches - I would rather limp than to try to learn to walk with them - I can keep my toe up and walk on my heel pretty good in the house - we will see how it works - tomorrow with shoes or slippers - we have to go to Salt Lake City for several hours - that is also and hour down and back. Thanks for the prayers.

Oh! Shirlene That sounds very painful. I have stubbed my toe many times but never broken a toe. I have learned to put night lights around the house at night so I don't trip and fall. Ice Ice Ice you are absolutely correct. and Elevate. Please take care of yourself. Hugs and prayers to you. Whatever happened to growing old gracefully or these are the golden years? Cindy B.

Cindy, I always sleep with it really dark and I can get up - usually and walk around - with no trouble - but I got distracted by something and wasn't watching what I was doing - so I got off centered a bit - it was a rude awakening to be on the floor so quick. Thanks for the prayers. I sure don't know what happened to that - I sure am not doing it. Hugs, Shirlene

Oh! Shirlene, I can feel your pain! Ouch, I bet it hurts like crazy. I hope you can get it all taped up and as you say there's nothing they can do other than that anyway.

Make sure you try and keep it elevated - well at least whilst you are at the sewing machine! Ha ha he he, because I don't think there is anything that will keep you away from your "baby".

Seriously, I hope you can get it all worked out. Love and blessings Chris

Chris, you just wouldnt' believe the pain of a broken toe - expecially when you try to stand up - I can walk on my heel - most of the time - so that part - I figured out already. I just can't figure out - how to get to the machine and keep my foot elevated - but I bet I do, too. Thanks love!

Oh I knew you wouldn't guess - I broke my toe on my right foot this morning about 4:30 am - getting up to go to the bathroom - needless to say - I stubbed my second toe and went falling to the ground so fast - I didn't even know I had could hit the floor so quickly - my right hip is hurting, too. I am sure it is a break - because of the weird shape my toe is in and also the pain - I can't walk or stand on it - I know all they will do is take an x-ray and tape it to the next toe. So I will just gin and bare it.

Bev, it was in the dark and a new piece of equipment for Rick to work out on - I forgot it was there - WHAM - I was on the floor really fast. Thanks for the prayers.

i have never broken a toe but I did get an infection in my big toe from a blister. Ended up in the hospital with the doctor operating and scraping the bone . Had little black stitches sticking out of my toe for awhile and had to wear one of those ugly open shoes. Still have the scar. That is my toe story.

OH my - that sounds awful. When I was under 18 and living at home - I remember stubbing my big toe once in the early evening and it almost pulled my toe nail off - my little neice was the only one upstairs and my Mother (Miss Loretta) was teaching a ceramic class downstairs - poor little Chrissy had to go down stairs and tell her Gramma what had happened and she didn't talk very well yet - it took my Mother about 20 minutes to finally come up and see what was going on - she had to leave class and take me to the ER - they had to operate - this happens to be the same foot - but not the same toe. I still have a scare, too.
