I think this might be a good explanation. Dana's post is very helpful.

Embird is a designing software for creating and altering designs. which is relatively inexpensive.
They offer some plugins (additional programs to that) one called Iconizer.
This shows embroidery files in the windows browser, means: no need to start any embroidery programm, no matter where you go on your computer, embroidery files show clearly as pictures.
But of course this luxury is not free ;-)
For free programs you got the best advice already.
If your question is not about viewing the desings but finding them on the computer:
Have a close look to the window, that opens after you clicked the download.
There is a line which tells you, where the COMPUTER plans to save it.
You can change that path by pointing the triangle on the right and decide, where YOU want it.
Maybe the "vanished" designs are in a folder of the internet browser, or in the Windows "MyDownloads" folder.
Greetings

I have a brother embriodery machine and I use Pe-design lite in my computer for my designs and sometimes the design is to big for my 5x7 hoop and it well not come through . so watch your thread counts and design size when you are downloading designs and watch the format of the design because all design don't come in pes and other format won't come up unless you have a way to covent them with the brother software like the basic or the pe-design lite. hope this helps .

I have noticed there are more than one kind of pes embroidery designs. like V3, V4 ,there are a few others. Some of them I can not see in my folders. Could that be what is happening with yours?

I have ped basic and PE Design lite. Some of the designs don't show in the ped basic but will show in the PE Design Lite, I am thinking this has something to do with the different versions of the pes designs.

I also have a Brother and I use Ped-basic, sometimes I will dl a design and nothing shows up, don't know why and I can never find them. If I try to dl it again the program tells me I already have it and should it replace it, I say yes and it still doesn't show up.

Debra, you alway have to make sure of where the file is - that you are putting it to - it may be that it is on your PC - in another location and you just can't view it from where you are looking for it.

PowerArchiver 2010 is what I use to unzip the files and then I put them into folders within my ped-basic. The ones that don't show up, I search everywhere i can think of and can't locate them. Sometimes it ped-basic will put a sub-folder inside the folder I am using so I find them there.

I always do that...I forget to chaange the location and accidently put a flower in an alphabet folder...one of these days I have to go through each and use my viewer to see them....don't have time right now though....

I use a free program called Ava Find and I can put the number or the name of the file in and it does a complete search on my PC - maybe this would be something you could use to locate your files.

Welcome to Cute. I use PE design to see my designs. I have also used Pulse Ambassador. Is the design you have downloaded larger than your hoop size? What Brother machine do you have? That will give us a greater chance of helping

What sort of software program to do you have? Most of them have a designs database that allows you to view your files in picture format. Go to the START button and arrow up to your software program - mine is Palette - then arrow up to your Design Database - there you can find the location of your files and the folders - click on a folder and you should be able to view your designs - click on the picture and it should take you into your Layout and Editing. There you can change the design - by color or size and then load it onto your card or USP port - or from the data base - you can copy and paste it into your USB thurbdrive as well. Hope this helps - if not perhaps something someone else has said will or another may come along, too with more into for you. Welcome to the CUTE family.

Where are you downloading to? You need PE Design software and when asked OPEN the design then file it NOT SAVE. Some downloads have nothing in but the majority of freebies have. Good Luck

Welcome to Cute!
Do you have software on your computer that can read the designs? PE Design is one I have that is for Brother. You can get free software online too. Pulse Ambassador or Wilcom Truesizer.
Go to the link I added here and on the bottom of the page you will see links to the free software.
