Beautiful Shirlene. I juct love hummingbirds. One summer I was visiting my Mother in Humansville, Mo. We went out to visit a friend that lives on a farm. Sat out on deck late afternoon and the deck was covered with hummingbirds feeding all around. They would buzz by us so close we thought they would hit us.
OH my what joy that must have been - I would have loved to have been there - Mildred - how far ish Humansville from Hannabil or Willard? Rick has family in each of those cities.
What amazes me about the video is the fact the more than one is feeding. They are so territorial. I have been feeding them for years and have only occasionally seen 2 at a time on the feeder. Usually one chases an approaching hummer away. Fascinating to watch.
Oh yes, in the beginning - he chases the other's away - it is amazing to watch - isn't it? I bet you love watching yours.
I have actually fed a hummingbird. My daughter nearly stepped on one a few summers ago. I really didn't think it would make it through the night. It wasn't old enough to fly yet. We fed it sugar water with an eye dropper and it was like a baby..needed to be fed every two hours. Its a long story and won't go into it...but it survived, learned to fly in the house. We let it go in about two weeks and watched it fit in with the others. It was an amazing experience.
I am so amazed by this video. How I wish I could have been there. What an experienc!
Karen, I know just what you mean - my daughter has some at her place and I wished I were there to see them every day - what special little critters.
Hi Shrilene, neat video, I'm sending it to my sister who loves hummingbirds, thanks for sharing!!
What a neat video. We have them here in KY but never thought of hand feeding them. Next summer I will try.
Judy
Oh Judy, how wonderful for you - that is something you will have to let us know - how it went, too.
Feed ONE? I would just love to see one first....
I will take a look and I just love hummingbirds.
Oh Kerry - they are just lovely little birds - really - so small and fast. Enjoy!
