small ice cream cone placed in my hand. I have a very bad spine (neck and lumbar) so am very limited in what I can do. I can walk, but no more than 3 miles and at most 3 mph for less than 3 miles. No aerobics. I tried walking in the pool and spent the next 2 weeks trying to get the pain back under control. So, to get the weight off to help my spine, I need to get my hubby under control. Can you say salads.

Salad, Salad and more salad...but watch out for the dressing. One way to use a lot less is to NOT put it on the salad rather to the side in a rather small container and dipping your fork into the dressing before stabbing that nasty ole lettuce...yep, you can tell I eat a lot of rabbit food too. Good luck trying to lose weight and I'm glad I read as much of these postings as I do as I've never heard of taking Grape Seed Extract but will give it a try to relieve some of the back pain. BTW...on another site Bearlymakinit yahoogroup is talking about Arnica...lady says she has used it for years and it works...google it and see what you think. Have a blessed day.

Hey, the first half of your post sounds like you have been to the same Weight Watchers meetings I have. I lose when I go (twice) but then gain it back within 6 months and I just can't afford to keep going. Do you know how much embroidery stuff I could buy with that $14 a week? LOL!

Check online for a TOPS club in your town. Take off pounds sensibly. It is about 20 dolars a year and alot of fun.

I have been battling that overweight problem for years and it seems I have lost about 1000 lbs, but I lose and gain it back, over & over. So I know what you mean. But my DH says to me every time I go to eat something, "Do you really need that?" but he is only trying to help me, then I get upset and eat 2 of them!!! I am my own worst enemy!!! Hahaha! Hugs, Judy

Men don't realize that we want them to shut up and not make us feel bad when we eat something that even we know we shouldn't, a ticked off woman will only make it worse. Yo yo dieting is worse on the body than just staying at the same weight.

I don't know if you've seen the exercise balls that inflate. When I had alot of low back pain I would sit on a less inflated ball & just slowly move back and forth. Also, I'd started taking grape seed extract(50-100mg)2 tabs 2-3 times a day for the inflammation& it's not a problem for the stomach. Also, there's massage pads that help. Hope it helps you.

Robin tell us about the grape seed extract? I'm allergic to sulfa drugs so I have to go without a lot of meds for my RA, would love to know more about this concoction...

You are doing agreat job walking. Try walking uphill at a lower speed on the treadmill and you burn more calories. That is what I do.

I don't care for salads, they have no sugar, lol! Hubby has been on a diet for months, one where he goes and gets weighed and is suppose to have their liquid stuff and one meal a day (needs the meal because of diabetes) but he is losing so slow cause he cheats like crazy! Why should I lose if he doesn't? I should have started a diet when I found out my son was getting married tomorrow. lol!
Bu the way, I don't like the way Jillian is looking at me!

Deb, you are hilarious!I'm sitting here laughing...Jillian DOES have a mean look. hehehe....
Karen, I LOVE salads, go online and find you some good recipe's that have a variety of veggies. Throw some sweet grapes in your regular salad, you'd be amazed at the change in taste. :)

BTW Deb, that is a "smug" face Jillian has...hhehehe

Maybe so but I heard that she doesn't want to have a baby because she doesn't want to gain weight so she might adopt! Will she adopt a child from America? I doubt it. Of course, I wouldn't mind looking like her and riding a Harley, cool, not gonna work that hard for it being 56 already!

Just keep telling him salad - salad - he wants the ice cream - for him - he wants you to be part of what he does - but if he needs it or wants it - doesn't mean that you have to eat it - I have taken Rick many times for ice cream and haven't had one - I don't like it much - but the more I do it - the more he understands - I really can't afford to have one - like he can. Keep working at it. And that picture of Jillian Michaels next to this posting - makes me sick - but I wished I looked like her - one more time in my life time. Hehehe!

I know just what you mean when you say you need to get your hubby under control.
I also need to lose weight, but I have had other complications such as an out of whack thyroid. It seems to be leveling off now so maybe instead of steadily gaining I can now have the pounds come off.
Hubby doesn't know the meaning of the word NO to doughnuts - it's "I got you a treat". He can't say salads as he doesn't like stuff like that.
Anyway - good luck.

Just started a real effort to lose a lot of weight. Want to go visit my brother next June and would like to lose at least 50 lbs by then. Have started walking more but my feet and hips keep me from too much walking.

Best of luck on your weight loss. I need to lose that much (and more) also. I can't walk because of my bad knees so it seems almost impossible. But hang in there!

I can say salad. But watch the dressing. :)
This advice comes as do as I say not as I do. :)
