many countries took part in the rescue. I wish I could publicly thank each and every person who took part in it. And I wish I knew all of the countries represented. I think it would be a very interesting list.

I just answered airyfairy and said that one of our very big firms from South Africa, Murray and Roberts were the first ones there and drilled the initial hole and possibly more (that I do not know ) We have an awful lot of very deep gold mines here and in fact our area is riddled with shafts underground. Some of them are disused now and every now and then we feel earth tremors and all the pics. on the walls are crooked, sometimes things in the house just fall off shelves. The worst is that you never know at that moment whether there are people all that way down there or not. Nobody in our family works for the mines but at one stage my son did and you never get rid of the thought in the back of your mind.

I sat half of night and watched the rescue - BRILLIANT is the only word. What those people and their families went through must have pure hell. We will never know and now I read that a lot of them are quite willing to go back down :-(

Can you imagine, your husband, your son being trapped down there? Now can you imagine how wonderful to have them safe! I cried all through the reports, and watching and waiting for the last one to emerge was wonderful for the whole world!
