and forgot how to do everything he showed me and with the shortcuts to download I can't download now cause I don't remember how he showed me! I am such a dunce! I should have written down detailed directions! One thing good is he installed something that allows him to gain access to my computer from his so eventually when he gets on line and gets my emails he may be able to send me the right directions. Till then, I can't dl anything :(

Pulse will let you change formats and Trusizer will let you change the size of designs and also will let you change some formats, it won't do vip for sure. I just have the free downloads of them.

Aren't kids great? My hubby has had to show me a lot about the computer, and he fusses and tells me. Write note, write notes, write notes. Then i can't remember what the notes mean. LOL

It all seemed so simple that I didn't think I would need notes. Now I can't even download from designs by cuties or Sick. Just don't understand how I could forget in an hour when he made it so easy.

Dear Leenova54
Please don't feel bad about not getting it the first time round.
I have a little book with notes on how to do things these whizz kids can show us(so I don't lose the scrap pieces of paper, I've stuck those into the book too)
Bribery goes a long way. When My child was at school,I paid him for written instructions(which he later had to still decipher for me).But he enjoyed getting paid for his knowledge and did not mind me being a slow learner. Some of my friends also paid for him to fix and show them how to do stuff.
While watching my hubby one day I could help him out with something on the computer so I also charged him because I told him That I'd paid for the info.:)
Computer courses do cost a lot of money so why not pay for their helpfulness.
Now he has a job and been promoted to Network Administrator.(earning big money for it too).
Maybe your Son could also be encouraged to give more of his time to you for a little fee or whatever.
Please persevere with these two new prog that you want because they are very good and will help alot.
I been using/needing them more and more.
Happy Computing
From Bev

Oh, he has money, lol! Just got married Sunday, then Wednesday he turned 31. If he didn't live an hour away and hadn't just been here yesterday he would come again but he took a week off work to get things done at home, then will work another week and then 2 week honeymoon in Japan. His aunts used to pay him to come to their house and work on their computer.

Sweet Debra,
I have the same problem ;o) Always think I understand the things and when I try it alone: All forgotten :o(
Sometimes I thought about using a videocam so I can watch it again and again and don't have to ask my GH for the 3rd time...
Greetings, Bettina

Oh Bettina, wouldn't that be nice! I should have taken my camera and recorded him showing me! Why do I not think of those things in time??? If only he didn't live an hour away it would be easier!

Hi Debra, All I can say is that I wish your son was here in South Africa!!!!! These days I have to write everything down. I have Trusizer (free version) but I only use it to mirror designs, as I am not into digitizing. Hope your son helps you out soon and remember to write everything down!!! Sarah.

Oh, sorry, he will be in Japan for 2 weeks starting the 25th for his honeymoon!
I dl Trusizer free for the mirror image too but can't even figure that out, getting the design on there and then saving it, I am trying to change the size and when I try to save it I can't find how.

In saying that sounds like your son is a gem, being able access your computer and help you will be good...don't worry go have a cuppa and come to it maybe something will gel...we all have senior moments from time to time...I know I do...Sally

He is a really good kid, well, he just turned 31, he is always helpful to me. Our older son isn't as computer savvy but will try and help if he understands.

I know how you feel, someone shows you how to do it & you think I 'll remember that & a few hours later its partially forgotten .Now I have a special notebook in a sewing machine draw for notes on different settings that I used for doing certain projects. In the machine manuals I write in pencil any changes that I do ,so later they can be erased if necessary. The computer has a notebook (more like address book with alphabetical pages)for email addresses, passwords ,usernames , computer solutions & other things I might need but might forget.

I usually write it down but this seemed so simple. A few years ago he showed me how to take 2 pics in photoshop and hook them together, I took notes and did it myself and then couldn't do it again even with notes. His now wife showed me an easier way and I wrote that down, did 2 that worked then couldn't do it again! I am hopeless!

This would be a good time to take a deep breath and walk away. I usually put myself in a time out. Sometimes my thoughts get straighted out and I can start again. Another thing you can do is to restore your computer to the time before your son came and adjusted your computer. This way you can start to download again.

I did, all I did last night was check my email before I went to bed in hopes he had emailed me back. I am so frustrated with myself!

Don't feel bad. also am not computer savy. I'm trying for over an hour to pull up a design and its not happening. My son showed me earlier what I need to do and i wrote it down but lost the paper I wrote it on. So i'll ask him again tomorrow,

Thank you, good to hear that I am not the only one who loses the designs. He set it up to make it much easier to do all the stuff but I just forgot! I am hoping he gets on his computer but since he took the week off work he might not get on it.

bevintex by bevintex 17 Oct 2010

Ok, i asked my son how to do it again and this time took detailed notes. He clicked around and said Mom what did you do? I have no idea but he fixed it and it works. And now I understand until i mess it up again.

Debra, I am so sorry to hear this - wished I had those - I would assist you - hope he gets on his PC soon - to help you out. In the mean time - organize your files or stitch out something pretty. *4U

Thanks Shirlene, right now I am so depressed and angry with myself that I don't dare touch the machine. My files aren't in too bad of shape but I guess I could mess with them a bit. I normally have essential tremors and when I am upset, like now, the tremors are worse. :(

Oh yeah, he took the whole week off work so I don't know if he will get on the computer before Monday since it is his job in his home office.
