part of the learning process should be learning how to find designs and download: then send them to the machine after all they will need to do this to enjoy the embrodiery process just ask us cuties about the search for new design

I see you have alot of sites to pick from.....I would think that if you ask some of these sites they would give permission for you to share with your students, never hurst to ask....blessings Janet

I am going to repeat my message to you.

In order for your students to use any Free Designs or any Purchased designs you find on websites they would have to acquire (download) the designs themselves.

It would be against copyright laws for you to download or purchased designs and then share them with your stutdents.

What you can do is pass on the links to websites that have free designs to your students and then your students can download them for themselves.

Also If you purchase sets of designs you would have to get permission from the digitzer to share the designs with your students in a classroom setting.

Some digitzers may give permission and others may just give a discount to your students to buy the designs and some would want your students to each purchase the designs at full price.

In any event it is up to the digitzer who uses the designs and how they use them.

Well said.

I will also want to add to this comment, which I fully support. We (Miroslava & Bernhard) are providing freebie designs on our site (-link has been named below already, so I'll not repeat it here-), but we've explicitly "excluded" any commercial use of our designs, and using designs in paid-for classrooms does surely belong into this category. In particular, we've been asked in the past if our designs might be "collected" on a CD (or another storage media) which will be provided to the students of such classes, and we explicitly DENIED this request.
This does not mean that we forbid the use of our designs in such classes, but as eastwitch2 says: The students will have to go&download those files for themselves, thus establishing their own "personal" responsibility for the use of the design, as well as "learning" how to correctly "behave" in this field, e.g. to read attached "copyright" statements and that it would maybe be nice to give feedback, etc.

I am so glad that Miroslava & Bernhard added their comments to this thread on design usage.

Please remember to take the time to read the copyright and usage of designs you buy from other digitzers.

Don't assume that if you have free of purchased designs that this allows you to do anything you want with or too the designs.

I see you've already gotten tavernmaker and lianestitch- both very good and stitchout well. I think you and your students will enjoy those. I know sonia showalter has a free fsl cancer support angel. I'll try to find the link.
Good luck!

Hi,

FSL is great - I make it since a while as favourie emboidery - especially for christmas.
Dainty stitches have very big assortement FSl, under "bargain sore" and archived sets you find more than you can stitch out soon. The sets are very unexpensive - some for 1 $ twenty or so.
Blessed stitchingtime

Do your students have embroidery machines? That is great news - they will love downloading their own designs and working with FSL. Happy Stitching!

I was just at this site and found all kinds or FSL. They are mainly at the bottom of the page, but some are in the middle. You will see FREE sign. There is pretty much a freebie in each set. Have Fun!

Your students would have to download any free designs that you find for them.

You can not download the designs and share them with your students unless you have the digitzers approval to do so.

It is a copyright thing! LOL
