it done in just a few minutes. NOT.... His Mom spoke up as I walked out thr door, "if you have something in a football or baseball design, that is what I want plus his name on it also. I had 2 different designs in mind both big wheels. my neext choice was a crazy jeep. MOM blew that. I have some baseball designs but none for a 4 yr old. I found 2 on sewsnazee but they are R.W. and old timey looking. I know he will not like them. If my search here fails, I do have a set of sport balls I can use but not what I wanted for a 4 yr old. I thought I would put a number on the back and his name.... In large print. I need to get this done before I go to bed tonight. I am babysitting the 2 yr old for the next two days at my son's house. I know he will feel left out but I could not find a shirt small enough for him on my fast trip to get the other one. I will have to get him a toy, I guess. Thanks ahead of time. I thought I had some designs that would work but if I do, they are hiding from me!

I'm sure we all want thank you for the laugh you gave us all this morning.....of course it was at your expense though, and I know your face was red when you later realized your error. Not to worry we still love ya and we'd probably have thought that after DIL put a hitch in my plans. Just tell a fib that you don't have a design like that,or that it won't stitch out right, and go ahead and do the the designs you wanted to do in the first place. Have a blessed day.

What a good place this is to be. I was given a smile as well by the typo. Nobody gets out of their pram or takes offence here - everyone knows it was a mistake and let's face the fact that we are all human and have been known to make an odd unforced error or two.
Good luck in you quest and I hope your grandchild is proud of the result.

yeah - thanks for the laugh! We all can use all we can get - good for us! I knew right away you just missed a letter - but just imagine - if you had missed any other letter, it would not have the same effect!
So, again, thanks!

I think it is totally unwise to put children's names on their clothing for anyone to see. In this day and age, with so many children being abducted, so many paedophiles, sicko's and criminals around why risk making it easier for a child to become a victim.

Sorry to be so blunt Linda, but your daughter is a fool to put her child at risk in this way.

This is something I feel so strongly about, it just makes me seethe when I see children wearing clothes with their names displayed so openly, it's like an invitation.
Why bother teaching "Stranger Danger"???????

Just my opinion.
Hugs and love, Meg

I so agree with you. I never put a child's name on a shirt or backpack. Like you said, too many sicko's and criminals out there. Why take a chance.

Just a warning - for security reasons it is not a good idea to put a childs' name on any items which are visable to the public. Can make them an easy target. 'stranger danger'

This is sad but so true, anyone can call the child by name making the child think it is someone who knows them.

Oh come on, you know you were frustrated and wrote what you were thinking, LOL, no, I know it was a typo, we all have them. Wouldn't shell shock me anyway, I say way worse than that when a design falls apart on me! Had one today, swore it was FSL but I guess it needed organza cause when the water hit it I had a ball of thread left, lol! Good luck dear, I have no designs for you.

Some of the football designs may be soccer because of the language difference.

I was standing in front of the computer trying to type because I had my chair pulled up in front of the sewing machine. I was afraid I gave everyone shell-shock and no one would answer my question. It was just me and my 2 dogs and my face got hor=t and turned beet red. When I told my son what I had done he got a good laugh also. I think he needed one also. He had just gone and payed a $115.00 ticket that he got last week for crossing over the center in a very crooked crossroad. The police and sheriff's dept had cars stopped one behind the other giving tickets at the dangerous Xroad. The stop sign is on top of the steep hill but when you get to the top and cross over the other side you can not see how much the road changes at the top of the hill. If you are not familar with it you cross the center and sometimes when you are familar with it. He was very upset as were several hundred more people that day last week. The cops were there all day and had cars lined up all day giving tickets. I am sure they have not heard the last of that "sting" because everyone was furious. It is just a tricky place to change like that at the top of a steep hill. I would love to know how much revenue they racked in that day in that one spot. You have to stop at the top so you are starting off very slow to get across the intersection and even though it shifts so, everyone was crossing the line and they were stopping every car that they could. He was driving the Co service van and they did not offer to help either. It made my son laugh after paying that ticket....I am sorry!

fannyfurkin by fannyfurkin 19 Oct 2010

It is good that everyone got a good giggle. It seems that lots of people are in need of a bit of a laugh at the moment. It would appear that the police are the same all over the world. Glorified revenue raisers.

sewist1 by sewist1 19 Oct 2010

No shell-shock - just a giggle to brighten the day.We will all be so nervous about driving anywhere shortly the way things are going.

gerryvb by gerryvb 20 Oct 2010

I thought the mistake was in your mind already because it is shit when you cannot find what you want. Thanks for the smile!

fannyfurkin by fannyfurkin 20 Oct 2010

OH Gerry, you said exactly what I was thinking but I thought the company was to polite to say that. I am not giggling now. I am rolling on the floor laughing.

Actually this little boy can be that sometimes also but that is just all of being 4 yrs old and being raised mainly by his granny(my DIL) all of his life. She has kept all 3 of the grands since they were born for both of her daughters. Gail, like myself also had a nursery for a good many yrs. My DIL is very competitive when it comes to the grands. She is upset that she is having to go back to work and is going to need some help. She will not work a day job long and as broke as I am, I would be willing to bet money on that. I raised my son alone and had a nursery for several and she does not even want me to keep the kids. They are hres as far as she is concerned and does not want to share! Got to go jump in shower and head out but will be back around 4:00 PM. I am also going back tomorrow. My problem is that I have 2 frubabies and one of them is never left alone longer than what it takes me to buy groceries and an hour each week for me to go to the Dr. with my leg. The 2nd furbaby has only been with me since sept 5th but is an older dog and has been left alone while her family worked. She will just sleep until I get back. My baby will roam around and look for me until I get home. Oh, and I forgot, a couple of hrs on Sunday when I go to church and have lunch with the kids and my son and his wife.
