I've heard of this but haven't tried it. Guess I'm going to be embroidering on TP this weekend. I have to have a gift for my Red Cross meeting and this would be cute and original. Thanks for the instructions.
Just had a thought.... This would be cute in a guest bathroom. I need to go to bed. Now I'm dreaming up what designs to put on tolet paper. It must be the hour.
Thanks for asking the question raels it saved me asking. Thanks to ravyn for sharing her answer. Did you use any particular 'type' of roll - ply, softness etc. I really have to try this - have a friend who desperately needs cheering-up and an embroidered toilet roll would definitely do it!!!
I used Charmin Ultra only because that's what I had on hand - but from what I've read, any decent quality paper should work. The only time I've heard of people having troubles were with some super-thin cheap papers. Even some store-brands apparently work, from what I've heard. I think most TP's could be used, as long as it is somewhat 'sturdy' and not super flimsy & thin.... Hope things go better for your friend soon!
Well, I'm new so forgive me for not seeming to get my links in here! I filled in the 'add link' and it doesn't seem to show anywhere...
Here's a couple places with tutorials, if my muddled instructions don't make sense!

Thanks for sharing with us. I loved the design you choose. Always nice to have a chuckle! flowers to you! ;) jrob
Sorry, cut myself off short! It really IS quite easy & fun - instructions may sound a bit complicated but once you DO it, you'll see how simple it is! Here's one link - if you google "embroidery on toilet paper", you'll find alot more. But basically, you just unroll a section of paper, (do NOT remove it from the roll) you'll be stitching on the 5th or 6th square from the end. Fold the loose end over so you've got 2 thicknesses on the block you're stitching, with some excess on either side (for hooping purposes) I used some lightweight cutaway, gave it a squirt of temporary adhesive & put my TP on it. Then just carefully hoop it, keeping your TP centered in place so the design will be in the middle of the paper. I imagine other stabilizer could be used instead of the cutaway if you wished.
One tip - make sure you're stitching on the right side of the paper! In other words, when you go to roll it back onto the roll, that your design in on the outer side, not inside! (Ask me how I know this one...LOL!) Just make sure you've got some excess unrolled when you set the whole roll next to your machine, so that it doesn't get pulled around & torn when you're sewing.
Once your design is stitched, I trimmed away some of the extra cutaway, then rolled it back onto the roll. Took a tiny dab of glue-stick to hold it in place so it wouldn't just fall unrolled so easily, but that was just my choice. Wrapped it up in some tulle & tied a ribbon on it. Cellophane gift bags work well too.
I'm not good at giving directions, but I hope this helps a bit! It truly is very easy & fun to do!
Thank you - it's really easy! There are numerous tuturials out there (here's one
