I have always used isacord thread is the flornia (not sure of the spelling) a better thread or what. How does it make your embroidery look?

Hi, Floriani, used to be called FUFU. It is top of the line. It is as good as Isacord or better. Most embroidery machines prefer it.

Yes, used to be Fufu, because the color chart on my Janome Digitizer Pro has Fufu colors, if I put in the Floriani number, usually it's very close. Certainly is top of the line. Here's a flower for everybody!

Bkd, I’ve never used Floriani, and had never even heard of it, but would be interested to know what you think of it – if you do decide to use it. Thanks for that website jrob. Talk about taking the wraps off something, that’s what that site did to threads. I hadn’t heard of most of the threads either, but the one that interested me the most was Isacord. When I bought my first machine, the dealer gave me a gift of nearly $200 worth of Isacord, which was very generous of her. Then when I bought my second machine, I was told that Isacord was no good and that I shouldn’t use it, reason being it would ruin my machine! Now, having looked at the pictures of the magnified threads it looks like Isacord stacks-up on the side of ‘good for my machine’, better than some of the ones she recommended. I must say that I like the Isacord and have had no problems with it at all, it embroiders-out beautifully. I think the use of threads is something personal to each individual, we all have our favourites, but I’m guessing all this has made some of us think seriously about the ‘health’ of our machines. Good luck with whatever threads you choose everyone.

Ruthie, I love the Floriani, and so does my Janome 300E. My Janome dealer sells it, they're impressed with it. It's so 'sparkling' and shiny, makes designs really pop. Marji

Hi, bkd, I use Floriani, Isacord and Robison-Anton, all polyester threads. They are all good threads and sew out well. Floriani has come up with a process to make the polyester thread very shiny, like a rayon. The shine is just amazing, and for a larger space in a design it really pops. I digitzed some hot air balloons, with different colored segments (like an orange), and the shine of the Floriani was just delicious, exactly what I wanted. I don't think the thread is necessarily 'better', although it is a very good quality thread, it just has much more shine than Isacord.

Hmmmmm, very interesting.

There is a link to a web site (http://sewing.about.com/library/w...) that actually put threads up to and photographed them through a 60x microscope. It was very interesting to see the difference. Just be sure that you use a high quality thread from whatever brand you choose. Our machines are costly and we don't want to chance running an inferior thread through them and causing wear that is unneccessary. I like a bargain as much as the next person, but not at the expense of my "baby"! ;)

I immediately looked at the site. I noticed that there weren't that many embroidery yarns I now. Although Madeira rayon looked great. Great website, jrob. And here's a flower from me too.

I also use different brands: Sulky, Madeira, Alcazar(by MEZ), Forny, Isacord, Marathon and Coats. The difference is minimal,it all works well. There is a difference between rayon and polyester, the shine is not the same. That, however is a matter of taste, it does not influence sewing out.

I use several different threads. To be honest, I don't notice much of a difference. I have Isacord, Janome, Wonderfil and Gutermann to name a few. I can't honestly say I like one over another. But that's me. I do like the Isacord and Gutermann spools the best. Sorry I can't be of more help.
