Mylar is an iridescent tissue film which is used like an applique fabric under light density stitching to give a sparkle effect. Would be good for cards. Colours are available but prone to colour bleed if used on garments which have to be washed. I understand that the opal does not. In UK available in Sainsburys. Gift wrap area, own brand name on pack, £1.25 for 3 sheets approx 500x700mm. Bar code 0155 3178
This link gives answers and sells mylar
I have never purchased any mylar, but from what I have read from many postings of other people, I am assuming it
is a very thin film of plastic that can be placed on top of fabric when stitching a design to give a unique array of colors. I think the mylar comes in several different
colors, and the irridescent color being one of the most popular. The mylar can be purchased at most craft stores. Hope I am correct on this; if not maybe someone else will come along to give a better answer!
