I have this exact one and it is really a little "work horse" Any fabric any design that fits the hoop size and also some larger ones that are designed for the Multi-Position all sew out beautifully.
Really wonderful is the tension Knob as it sews you can roll it to change the tension for diff threads, sometimes same make of thread sews diff for diff colours.
The hoops hold the fabric nice and tight too, but be carefull of that tiny hoop (2x2)? some designs that you think will fit in it dont and you will damage/break the needle.
The screen has instuctions on how to do everything.Choose the icon on it that shows a book.
Also fab are the built in design frames and the built in fonts are very versatile for size and placing(they sew out legible anyhow).
No matter what larger or Better machines that one might have, this one is a 'Keeper' for its reliablity and ease of use.You are going to love it.And do amaizing projecs.
Spares are readily available here in S.A.(I've not needed any repairs in 8 yrs.
With your blank card and amazing box, any designs for your hoop size are at your fingertips!
You are so lucky to have obtained this machine and I would love to hear how you get on.
From Bev
ooh just browsing through some of my old photos
and found this one of one of my PE150 creations
of a jacket I made for my daughter.. Its on the large hoop 300 x 100
Big hugs Maria xx
wow! you mean i could do that too? I really like that. I have my old Janome but it only does the 4x4 hoop. I was reading a bit on this hoop.
thank you for showing me this
hugs Lee
Hi Lee
Yes you can :-)
I probaly hooped the jacket on the largest hoop..
and use the overlap feature..(split design)
its been a while since I used this machine
I will just go double check the length of the largest hoop I may have stated that wrong..
Big hugs Maria xxx
Hi there and congrats on your new/ used machine. I think your Amazing Box is exactly the same as my Magic Box. After you have downloaded your designs from Cute or wherever - just plug the box into your computer and download on to your blank card, which I can see in your picture. Then insert the card into the machine and off you go. Just one word of warning - make sure that your machine is off when inserting or taking the card out of your machine. I am sure that you will have instructions in the original box. Good luck and keep us posted.
I found the upgrade page for PE 150V but not PE 150. Are they the same or different? And, maybe that's not the right page, not sure.
Lee,
I'm so sorry I didn't see this earlier, it's so exciting. (We had a family dinner out and movie in.)
I looked up the machine because I own a Brother but not that one.

One site says it only does 4x4 designs. If that's true then the bigger hoops are for moving to another section of fabric and doing another 4x4 design without unhooping the fabric.
You probably need one of the lower verisons of pes. I can turn my machine on and go to a page that tells me what version it is set for. I was able to upgrade my machine a few times before it became "obsolete" in the Brother world. That means they ignore it and don't do anymore upgrades. I did my upgrades at the sewing machine shop but I think it can be done online through the Brother site too. You should check that out before you get going with a lot of downloads and stuff so it will be upgraded as far as possible.
I can't get over the price. It's a win situation no matter what you do with it!
I can't think of anything else at the moment. Do you have specific questions?
I see it takes cards. Does it also take a floppy disk? Mine is a Brother Pacesetter ULT 2003D.
I don't have the Amazing Box so I'm not a lot of help there.
I just found this on the box,

Looks real helpful!
You can look for upgrades here:

Wow Lee! Now you have a Brother like me. Different machine, but now you need pes too. I've heard of the Amazing Box but I don't have one so I can't help you there. I can't wait to hear what else you can do with it. How old is it?
thank you sewmom... i have the bill of sale for it. The date on that is 2003. I think it's around the same age as my Janome but i thought my daughter would maybe like to join me in the embroidery world..hehehe. I couldn't turn it down. I got it for $40.00 plus i have to sew some cushions for her.
I found the upgrade page for pe 150V but not pe 150. Are they the same or different.

Congrats on your new/used machine. Hope you have many years of enjoyment with it.
Wow, Lee what a great find. I know nothing about the PE150, but it looks like a good little(big) machine. You didn't mention price, so I taking it you got a great deal. Best thing is to go to the Brother USA website and look for instructions and start loading the freebies from there for your machine. I'm thinking the Amazing box is just a reader/writer. have fun with your new toy. hehehe.
Wow! Have fun, the amazing box is the reader for the designs. have a great time with it.
wow... you cuties are amazing! thank you so much. I can't wait to use it. It sounds like a really great machine to have.
hugs Lee
I have the PE150 which my grand daughter uses. It's about 2000 or 2001 somewhere in that time frame. Wonderful little machine. I see you even got quite a few hoops with it. It will only embroider up to a 4x4 pattern so be careful of the ones you buy. The 5x7 hoop has extra slots so you can embroider a picture at the top part of it then you can move the hoop so you can put names or some writing beneath the picture without re-hooping. I think you will love this one. You should have no problem learning to use it. Very user friendly. Enjoy your new machine.
this was my first ME : love it still use it. when you use the card put it in and then turn on the machine.go to brother for tech support and read the book if you have problems or ask me I just moved but I have the book somewhere let me know if you need something. the bobbin size is different than my pe 780d and my sewing machine if you get them mix up it break threads and nest if the design has a lot of stitches your reader may not read them but they will work on other machine hope this help I love to have all those different size hoops
Congratulations on your new toy. Sorry I carn't help I have a Janome. Happy playing.
This is a brilliant machine which I have in the past used many times. I know nothing about your last machine but this one has a number of designs in the machine and a slot for brother design cards or the blank card which you can download pes designs on to. I have only had access to a 10 cm x 10 com hoop when using these machines. Not sure how the Amazing Box works but I am sure it is simple. Anyway have fun with your new baby and Happy Sewing, look forward to seeing the results in projects?
This was my first machine and I still have it
its a work horse a fabulous machine :-)
cant comment on the amazing box software as
I use ped-basic to transfer my designs and
embird to digitise them..
Its been a while since I have used this machine
But I wont part with it :-)
even though I have since upgraded the one thing i loved about this machine
is the embroidery arm being on the right, its makes embroidery on large items much easier.
have fun playing with your toy
Big hugs from London
Maria xx
here are some pics of it
Looks like fun! I bought a Janome from ebay 2 months ago.... and have had new discoveries almost every day.
It certainly would have been easier to buy it new and get lessons. Since you already have a machine, you have a knowledge base to build on.
Happy for you. Good luck with your new discoveries.
Thanks. I have a wonderful friend who is available to assist with problems I may have. She has also pointed me in various helpful directions... including this site.
Wow! sounds like you have everthing you need congratulations. Cannot help have Janome myself...Hugs Sally
an amazing box is a card writer. You plug amazing box into pc put the card into it and then you can put the designs onto the card and insert the card into the embroidery machine.
oooooooo i see. thank you. It's just like the one i have for my Janome but it's called a memory craft reader/writer
