Clean Hoops! Thanks to all who offered advice. I tried several methods, the peanut butter was a no-go and I got in a terrible mess with WD40. Success came with a borrowed bottle of Betterware's Sticky Stuff remover.

I AM THE ONE WHO HAD SUGGESTED THE PEANUT BUTTER I have never used it on my embroidery frames, but have succesfully removed every label and old glue from glasses mirrors and the like. I rub it on let it sit over night, take a little soap and every thing rubs away. :-)

I cannot imagine using peanut butter for cleaning anything!!!! Imagine what it does to your stomach. I will stick with baby wipes - they work for me.

I still stick to my baby wipes, the key is to clean up after use,(pot calling the kettle black)hehehe...I try to, but I also spray away from my machine too. Deb's Goo Gone is great also, but wipe it good because it will leave oil stains. :)(I guess with babywipes too. hehehe)

Oh yes, always wash well with soap and water then dry well after using any product on your embroidery hoops or anything else for that matter!

I think I'll stick to Goo Gone, or unstick, lol. Lemon scent might be a bit strong. When you have asthma everything is a bit strong. Don't use adhesive much anyway, my one attempt had a shift anyway so I need to get some iron on for when I try another knit shirt.

I had to read the posts. I loved them. I agree that pb is to be eaten and WD40 belongs in the garage. I am clueless with tools etc. Glad that you now have clean hoops.

I always use DK5 - that is what it is made to do - clean off that mess, in the first place.

Can somebody tell me what Betterware's St is? Didn't no something with that name here in Germany and when I read asterixsew's comment it should be an old aid ;o)
Greetings, Bettina

I'd like to know what it is, too!

asterixsew by asterixsew 24 Oct 2010

Betterwear is a tradename of a company that sold door to door. Similar to Kleenezee but it was a British firm who would leave a catalogue for you to decide what you wanted, then they would return a few days later for your order. I think the St was when Amazinggrace ran out of words and may have been sticky remover

Gosh, the only place pb goes is between 2 pieces of bread! Glad you were able to find something that worked! Carol

Well actually pb works to get gum out of hair too. LOL

If you like the smell ;o) My daughter was not a real fan of the idea to "clean" her hair that way *lol*
