When making coasters what all do you use? I mean, if you set a sweating glass on it I don't want the wet to go through to the table. That is IF I had any NICE furniture, lol. Thanks!

I make/use wood squares.4" inches is about right. I also have used thick Brushed(means not smooth on one side) leather squares. These work great. Also Hobby Lobby now carries "stone" coasters that work very well. The wood ones are cheaper, easier. Stella

I usually use an old plastic table cloth that has a flannel lining for the back of the coaster and this works fine and I'm not out monies for new supplies.

I'll be looking for my old one! We never use the table, I tell my Mom that I can't find the top of it cause hubby has so much junk there!

after summer is over you can buy picnic table cloths on clearence and use that under the felt. Also at the fabric store they sell the table cloth fabric that is plastic with some kind of felt on it.

Deb this is a good questions. I've quilted coasters and even though it absorbs the sweat, it still will leave something if I'm not careful. I have also bought different coasters and they still leave a vapor from the glass due to the coldness. I actually saw where someone used plastic as lining or oilcloth as a backing. I've not tried those but maybe they are worth trying. It will be interesting to see what others say. Thanks for this question.

Thanks Terre, I think I have an old plastic flannel backed table cloth in the basement, looks like cleaning time down there to find it, ugh, more work!
