Here's the link I was looking for :) She has soooo many beautiful designs.
I had not seen this site before. I have marked as a favorite. Even if I don't attempt this I will go back and just enjoy the designs. Thank you. Becky
You can buy the fabric already pleated, and the flat fabric to match. I've been wanting to do this from the first time I saw it done on an embroidery machine. There is a lady with a website, and her smocked embroidery designs were featured in Sew Beautiful Magazine--I'll try to find her link for you :)
I Can do it on my Viking Sewing Machine with a special foot. Might check with your machine dealer about that.
Good Luck
Thank you I will. Christmas is coming and I might NEED a new gizmo for my machine. lol Becky
The gathering of fabric is called 'pleating' and there are special machines to do this , or you could use the DOT method. A big square of dots and you manually pull the thread through them all to accomplish the pleating. I've never done machine smocking but I understand the designs today look just like you hand smocked.
Welcome! I see you are from SC...There are few of us on here. Most of them are down your way also. I think I'm the only one in the upstate that I'm aware of. This is a wonderful website. I see you have been a member for a while, but I don't think I've seen you recently. Welcome back. ;)
I have seen a few machine smocked designs and they are beautiful. I have loved smocking since my kids were little. Youngest is now a Marine so it has been a while. Wonder if the Marine would like something smocked???? :)
