The vendor is an 80 year old, who really struggled to get his stuff moved out... he really overestimated his ability to do it all himself and he has no family to help him, so, I've been rather busy, because you just would not believe what the removalists left behind, it was truly criminal!

The first lot only took his furniture and his clothes and left EVERYTHING else behind, and I do mean everything. Food, crockery, books, you name it, it was still there. There wasn't one cupboard in the kitchen that was empty, and all three bedrooms had stuff everywhere.

Needless to say he is a hoarder of the worst kind. But after three weeks and working 12 hour days, I finally got the last box of his possessions packed and moved out today.

Now I only have to start cleaning up five years of sloppy (man) housekeeping then it will be ready for us to start moving in.

It is so lovely there, with possums that come up onto the verandas, a family of ducks that come up from the river every day for a feed and even a pair of huge blue tongue lizards that rush out from their hidey hole to grab a piece of bread before dashing back into hiding. Their are Shags that dive for fish, then they sit in the trees with their wings outspread to dry out and every afternoon you can actually hear the fish as they leap out of the water. Occasionally you'll be quick enough to actually see some and they are huge, (I'm looking forward to fresh fish in the pan :-)). Across the river you can sometimes spot the wallabies hiding in the underbrush and we even have a giant pelican that comes up river every day.
It is truly paradise and the only thing that spoils it is the plastic drink bottles and shopping bags that thoughtless, care-less, humans toss away downstream. When we move there I'm going to try and rig up a pole with a net and see if I can fish out some of the rubbish that pollutes and spoils the beautiful river.

Oh, and for those wondering what we have named our new home, so far Possum Lodge is the popular choice, because even though the possum family spend their days in next door's garage, they spend their nights clambering all over our roof and verandas. :-) And just guess which scaredy cat ran for inside behind closed doors when one of them came towards her last night?????

Well Cuties, I'm off to sleep in a REAL bed tonight, the old camp beds are a little uncomfortable when every bone and joint in your body is aching from packing and carrying boxes all day, especially when you have 61 year old bones and joints to begin with. LOLOLOL!!

Good night all, and wherever you all are, may you find time to enjoy the wonder and beauty of God's creation that we have been given to care for.
Hugs and love to all, Meganne

Oh Meg, sounds like you are going to love it there. Must be beautiful all those wild pets. So we will have more in common 'possums'.
We have friends whose home is named 'Possum Lodge' he is a boot maker of the best kind to. Is it possible to pay some one to do all the cleaning up instead of you. You sound like you have done enough of that...love Kerry

Yes you were missed!! We all knew you were busy. Soon you will have it all completed and you will really be able to enjoy your new home. It is too bad you had to clean up after someone else and get rid of all his stuff. It would be bad enough just to have to clean up dust and dirt etc. Your new home truly sounds like a paradise. Hugs, Mary

Meg, my dear - we did miss you - but we knew your were doing something with your home - so we were not worried - so sorry to hear - you had to clean up after another - that is sad - they should have paid to have that done - not you doing it. Now the work begins - you getting your things and Ray's and MIL's all together in one place - it sounds like a dream and it surely will be a place to call home - very soon - you will put your stamp on it and make it like new for you. The nature that will surround you will be a joy to get out and about in - wow, I wished we had a little bit of that sort of thing again. I will be praying for you and Ray to make the move quickly - so that you don't get exhausted - have you gotten your home now up for sale, too? Joy to you my friend.

You will look back on this as quite the adventure. How nice that you are closer to nature now. I miss the fact that we have become so populated out here, and no longer see the deer, turtles, peacocks, and foxes that we used to see. Too many houses have been built around. You enjoy all of this - just memories you are creating. Hugs

Wow, sounds like it is going to be wonderful there! Hubby and I live within the city limits here in Canton Ohio but we love sitting on our patio watching the birds come to our feeder and hand feeding my squirrels, I would be in Heaven at your new place! I am with Terre though on the possum, we get them here and you mostly see them dead along side the roads. Last Spring we had to trap one to relocate and she had a pouch full of hairless babies! Wonderful to see but possum can be dangerous if cornered so keep a watchful eye on them. Do post pics when all is clean and furnished, can't wait to see if you get a pic of those lizards, they must be amazing! We always wanted to visit Australia till we heard how many poisonous snakes are there, lol! I do fear snakes!

Hey Meganne, You have been missed! Oh My I hate to say I wouldn't want to be in your shoes right now. LOL... It sounds like a beautiful place you have. Not sure about the opossums? Unfortunately here is the south they are abundant and are found on the side of the road dead. They are highly diseased too...Sorry you are having to do so much work, but can't wait to see what it will look like when you are finished. Pictures please... BTW did you decide on a name for your place?

Glad you are back and on the way to making your new home yours. I would suggest getting a pole and leaf net from a swimming pool store for your trash fishing. They are lightweight, the pole extends and can dip out quite a bit.

The "place" sounds just wonderful like it is, so just think how wonderful it will be cleaned and furnished with your own belongings and decorated by your own hands in your taste! I know you will be happy when you can actually move in and call it home! You sound joyous just talking about it. It is great that you have been blessed with such a wonderful place that you are soooo happy with. May you find much happiness inside and outside these walls that will only be a home when you make it that way. It is a very beautiful place and the outside surroundings sound just wonderful. May God bless you, your family and the house with much love, good health and alot of happiness for many years to come. I am very happy that you have found your dream house with alot of room to do your crafts in. Take it easy and do not over-do. You have the rest of your life to make this beautiful place "your home". Many blessings, Linda

Glad to have you back. Difficult to move no matter what the age but as you hit your 60's it's a little harder esp. when you have to clean up after a man who has been alone and 80 yrs. old. Good luck with the move. Arlene

Good morning,Meganne, it's nice to hear a sunny voice and enjoyed hearing about your adventures while having mymorning cuppa;have lived in a few of these natural wonders myself, over the years, and am delighted for your newfound discovery of the wondrous sights and sounds(hehehe) all around us. Possum Lodge is the name of a meeting place on a canadian television series called Red Green, the adventures of a disgruntled do-it-yourselfer whose remedy for everything is DuckTape(heavy, grey colored ducting tape)and is truly hilarious. But, I digress; glad to have you back here, at cute. Don't forget us in your newfound reverie.*4U
