Terre, I'm sorry to hear this. I haven't been to personals for a while. Take care of yourself and I pray you have a speedy recovery. Reva
thank you Reva, I can say I'm on the mend. this case was worse than last and lasted longer, almost a month. :)As soon as they are gone, I will go to dr. and get the vaccination for shingles.
So sorry to hear this. Glad you are on the mend. Hugs Yvonne
My husband came to me one day a few years ago and asked me to scratch his back. When I looked I saw just a couple of blisters. I told him no, because you have the shingles. He thought I was crazy but indeed, shingles, it was. Went straight to the doctor. The doctor prescribed Lidoderm patches 5%. It worked fantastic!!!! He only need the patches and after about 1/2 a box of patches (15 or so) he was pain and shingle free. Without those patches it would have been sooooo much worse. Be sure not to scratch any blisters that do show up as you can spread it to other parts of the body. I've seen shingles around the eyes and other areas. Hard to treat. Good luck and hope it doesn't last long. Not to alarm you but our doctor also said that having shingles COULD be a sign of an underlying medical problem. Ask your doctor to get his idea, of course. Lidoderm patch works!!!!!!!!! We were very thankful. Maybe you won't have to hurt. I'm sure it different for different people.
Thank you Ramona for this info. I don't need the patches now, but will keep it in mind for someone else. hehehe. I'm getting vaccinated as soon as they all dry up. Yes I have heard it could be an underlying medical problem, but I just had my phx not too long ago and got a clean bill of health, except for the weight. LOL... A lot of times it is caused by stress and we never think we are under any stress, but I guess helping with mom and dad and having my step grandkids around all the time, is probably stressful if I think about it. But I love the all. :) Hugs, Terre
Oh my, I am so sorry to hear this. I understand it is a very painful thing. I will be praying for you to heal fast. I just goggled pictures of it, and it looks pretty uncomfortable. I hope you have a very mild case of it.
thank you. Yes they are very painful especially just before the outbreak. But I'm on the mend now. A few still out there but nothing to painful like it was to start with. :)
Just checking in to know how are you and your shingles are getting along? Hope you are feeling better.
Anita the are healing and drying out. I still have a couple that are still in limbo, waiting for them either to blister or disappear. I'm heading to the dr. office for the vaccine as soon as these are gone.
Ouchee, ouchee, ouchee hasn't been to long ago my hubby had a bout with them. Started under his left breast & went all the way around to his spine & up to the shoulder blade on the left. His scars still look bad.. There's an injection they can give now just before they break out real bad that is suppose to help. My hubby was to far into them & too late for the injection. I do know the injection is costly & our insurance would not have paid for it.
My sympathies. I have had them on my waist. Just wear loose stuff, it helps. You are lucky for the steroids, all I got was Tylenol.
Hugs, Nadyne
P.S. A sense of humor doesn't hurt either ! ;-)
My sympathy goes out to you. I have had it and it is miserable and painful!
I had it a few years ago. Once the blisters are there, you are over the worst. I went to the doctor once I found some blisters, could not believe it was shingles, never suffered a lot, seems to differ from person to person. Hope you soon feel better.
You poor thing, My mum gets shingle and when it flared up it was the only time she ever took sick leave from work. But DH gets them and it doesn't even bother him. I hope you get better soon.
I hope it heals very quickly and you have less pain. Prayig for you.
I am so so sorry. I remember my father had singles when there were few to none treatments. I remember the torture he went through. I am grateful that you now have a diagnosis and treatment. I read your post to my husband. He loved your husband's comment. Rob would say the same thing. I guess they would get along well.I wonder if the wonder under (use it to keep the embroidery from being irritating to tender skin) would help. Come on Cuties. Surely we could come up with something to help her.
Thank you Karen. Since posting this, I've had a few more outbreaks and more bandaids.hhehehe. I'm closing up for the night and going for some Ibprophen to take the edge off and head to bed. An early night tonight.:)
My mom had them a couple times and she could only stand clothing that was 100 percent cotton and very thin. I remember her wearing a thin nightgown in the house for a few weeks. The some of the sores also became permanent scars. Fell better will be thinking about you and giving you blessings. (Be careful around your Grandkids)
I have heard that shingles are very painful....I couldn't help but smile over your hubbies comment.....I will be praying these heal quickly......blessings Janet.
thank you Janet. Yes my DH has a very dry sense of humor which I love. If you can image someone putting a lit match to your skin, that is what it feels like. At least that is the best description I can think of.
Terre, I am not sure that this is such a good thing - at least with the pulled muscle you can heal quicker - now with Shingles - you have to get healed up and learn to relax and care for your wounds, too. My grand had a severe case of shingles a few years back - it was a time dealing with them - she was in alot of pain - so I know how bad you must be feeling - take care of yourself - I will be praying for you.
Thank you Shirlene, this is actually my second outbreak. I had them when I was closing my shop and that was a very stressful time, but I just can't think of anything that has caused this outbreak. But they are no fun, let me tell you. :)
Sorry to hear about the shingles. You should be lucky as it was caught early as the only medication that worked for me was huge doses of paracetamol and ibrophine. It can take a while for the pain and spots/blisters to go. I was told it was caused by stress and if I was put through stressful times it would then reappear. It happens after the stress has abated. Take care and do not over do anything for a few days
Thanks. I can't recall what I'm stressed about. I had them before between my shoulders but they only lasted a couple of weeks, they weren't anywhere near what these are.
