Ohhhhhhhhh, yes, yes, yes. We need to DO something! Read Greg Palast's book, Armed Madhouse... for documented and frightening examples of stolen elections and stolen votes. This book happens to target one party, but examples elsewhere document that the other major party does it too! Leave it to the women! :) Win or lose, it's NOT an authentic election if every vote is not counted. Just an idea to share, but I use a signature on all of my emails which says, "Count EVERY vote!" We could start a national bi-partisan womens' sewing society campaign. We could wear the embroidered words on shirts and jackets. We could send hankies to our elected officials with the embroidered words. We could write letters where we live... asking for public disclosure of evidence that every vote was counted, and justification for those which were not. We could fly flags from our car antennas with the embroidered words. We need to demand it... from BOTH major parties. I always feel that momentary sadness when the candidate I thought was best doesn't win, but that's nothing compared to the ugliness of the feeling of winning... illegally. Kudos, 02kar, for speaking up! I'm off to write my letter. :)
I have heard that they don't even count them if the race is not close. Very disappointing.
It is a shame that we, as a country, are lax in seeing that our service men and women can not get the ballots in time. My 18 year old grandson voted for the first time this year, and shamed his dad into registering and voting for the first time in his life - and he was a service man. Shame on him, but he had a young son to make him step up.
'Strange' isn't the exact word I would use!!!!! This is TOTALY UNEXCEPTABLE for residents of our country especially for those that put their life on the line for my freedom.
Karen I don't think our votes were counted when we lived oversea either...
I have heard that, we moved to Dominican Republic two years ago, I voted the first time because i was still a resident in Florida, now we needed to go to the USA Embassy and it was not possible for us, but you gave an idea maybe if we go with enough time to the Embassy they may have absentee ballot for next one.Voting is important i think a person can not complaint if she/he did not vote.
I recently heard of this - that there are times - that the absentee ballot - isn't processed quick enough for the our service men and women - there is something terrible wrong with this. I will be praying that they all get counted this year and in the future.
Although I do strongly believe in the power of prayer I thank that this is one of the things that the Lord helps those that help themselves. We need to stand up for and demand that these ballots be counted. I also know that as humans we all make mistakes and I am willing to forgive a few mistakes but these ballots must be counted. We all need to get involved in the running of our government.
I remember many years ago absentee ballots were counted because the voting was too closed.
This is the duty of the county clerk and they should have these ballots marked as urgent when they send them out so they are sent even earlier than the others. I'm sorry to hear that this is a problem. I wonder if my county clerk knows of this since we have Camp Lincoln here and the National Guard.
