Hi margiepink; yes, I have diverticulitis and sometimes it's very painful. For me, mostly it comes from small seeds & grains;certain foods that act up inside the colon walls that are inflamed. If it gets really inflamed-as it did me-you land in the hospital eating bland liquid foods and taking antibiotics, sometimes for aweek.(See a doc if you are in great pain). My suggestion, once it starts acting up, don't continue eating what you were;change to bland food--it could take 8 hrs.for the pain to go away.Mine usually acts up at night. I also found eating yogurt daily helps...good luck..Diane
My dad had it and if you avoid certain foods and eat small meals instead of one big one you will be Ok. My dad used to eat 6 small mals instead of 3 . This helped him a lot. Do some reaserch on the web to learn more about it. Hope you will be out of pain soon. Suzanne
Hi Margie,
I was just looking it up on the web and there are some great suggestions for the control of it. I suffered from it when I was about 21 and had to avoid certain foods. There is a list on the attached URL.
Good luck and I hope the pain stops soon. Love and blessings Chris
