I was at Walmart today looking for WSS. I have bought it there previously. The clerk told me they are no longer carrying it. She says she did not understand why as they always sold lots of it.

I also found my Walmart here outside Chicago no longer carrying their water-soluble stabilizer. On Friday I found two bolts in their clearance fabric area for $1.25/yd and bought all of it! I'm really disappointed, but at least we still have a fabric department.

I have to admit that I stopped shopping at Walmarts several years ago. I had had 1 too many bad experiences with their produce and so many other items.

I worked for Wally world 16 years. was Fabric dept Mgr when they took ours away. Lots of people was upset. Writing & calling did no good. The Company bigwigs thought it wasn't needed. When they stopped buying so much fabric some mills went under because they relied on their buiness. I have since retired but when I visited my old store recently The new craft Mgr said that the Company lost millions when they stoped selling fabric that they are concidering bring it back. I hope so for those of us that need it. The only prblem is that in the stores that still have it the prices have gone up a lot in the last year or more.

I noticed that my Walmart has changed the fabric dept also. maybe we should bombard them with several thousand E-mails to express our disappointment. I probably comes down to the old rule of sales per square foot. I know it was not a money making department, but it was more of a convenience to make a few of us happy.

I sure don't know why they have stopped - but they have - all across the country. It is a shame - I buy most of my supplies online now. *4U Mary dear.

My understanding is they are slowly phasing out all their fabric depts. Most of them are already gone in this area. Only a few still carry some of things we need.

My Wakmart still carries fabric, but they told me the same thing about the WSS. I had been buying it there.

I know that the Walmart in Peterborough, Ontario is not selling any more fabric.I went their last week. The lady said they are not going to be carrying any sewing supplies soon! People are not happy about it as the Fabricland has closed in the town of Lindsay also. This means we have only one store in town that sells fabric and it is very dated and expensive. Signs of the times?? I don't think so as I know so many young people that are just getting into the art of sewing. This also has made alot of seniors very upset as they don't drive and can't get to the next town to get there supplies. Many do charity work and now they have to give it up. What a shame. The next town is 45-60 minutes away (just to get fabric) a really challage as we live it a snow belt area. :(

You can get WSS at JoAnn's fabric and craft. Its called Wash-N-Gone. Its like Vilene and costs $3.49/yd. It comes in 15 yd bolts and if you get their coupons, it worth getting it with the coupons. Sign up for their monthly coupons and sometimes you get 50% coupons or 40%. Both can be used for WSS. Excellent for FSL and I've used it all the time. A great product.

I was also disapointed by their craft and fabric selection. Everything has been removed almost.

the walmart in our town no longer has fabric and hardly any sewing items..most all the walmarts around here have a VERY limited craft section. i've never been a walmart shopper, but since there's been so many local fabric shops go out of business..and then walmart stops selling fabric..that just makes me ANGRY!!
