I gave up for a while, and decided that that cone of thread on my desk was not going to get the best of me! What a challenge. But, now I want to try something with it since I found the end. I purchased 2 5000m cones from Marathon thread - colors that were recommended by Dainty Stitches. They are beautiful - one is called Fallen Snow, which is a metallic (#3015), and the second was is a 40 WT vaigated called Baby Breath (#5001). Both very pretty - They were more expensive than the Metro cones, but I did want to try to colors. I will show them off once I can make myself go back into the sewing room. I have not really used Marathon before, but their customer service was very helpful in helping me with he colors.

I have bought embroidery supplies from Marathon for several years....NEVER a problem with anything. Their thread is wonderful. (I do also use Metro)Their stablilizers are as good as any I have ever bought. Infact their sticky back is better than others I have tried. I love Marathon, and it is run by very nice people. You will not have trouble with their thread.

I have this same problem except it is with prewound bobbins. It is so frustrating!!! And I won't throw it out so once I'm so aggravated I could scream, I let my husband have a try. Sometimes he finds it and sometimes he doesn't; that's when I put it to the side and start another.

It's sort of like loosing the end of tape--how much time do you spend trying to find it, or do you just toss it and look for another roll :)

Here's a tip for tape. Fold the edge on itself for an inch or so. You can always find the end that way. After you've used it, fold the edge on itself before you put it away. You loose a bit of tape each time, but not really very much, and you're never frustrated again. I haven't figured anything for those bobbin ends yet, and boy, are they frustrating...

I agree that it is frustraing. Sometimes when I run my hand up and down the cone I am able to disladge the thread enough to find the end.

Marathon thread is fine. I use it a lot and have had no problems with it. Glad you found the end. Enjoy.

That was funny to me as I purchased 20 large serger cones of thread for $2.00 at a flea market and a couple of them were so messed up that I sliced the thread and just started unraveling. They sure can get the best of you when you can't find the loose part.

I'm sure you'll have no problems with the Marathon thread, now that you have found the end.....or the beginning. I have used this thread & it's fine. The colours sound lovely.
