a particular design. i will use the example of "baby's first Christmas" (just because that is what I have just uploaded to DBC) What would you put in the google search box to try to find it. Or do you use a different search engine like Yahoo or Bing or something completely different. Or do you just come straight to cute and ask the community. The reason I am asking is because I use tools like google keyword tool to work out what people are looking for, but google is a robot not a person, I think real people will give better answers. I will be very grateful for the time people take to answer this question

I am pleased that people are thinking to look for cuties sites.

I usually start with the Yahoo search engine, then Google, and Cute. I would type in exactly what I want first. Baby's first Christmas machine embroidery. The problem I have is that I usually end up with services that will embroider for me. I don't know how to weed that out yet. If that search doesn't work I refine by changing the words, baby, baby's, babies, first, 1st, etc. I don't know if that works if the site I really want is in a different language.
By the way, as a site owner you can see what words people used to search for your site. My DH had the word "spank" in his blog (in a joking manner) and was horrified to see that people got to his blog by searching for that word. Obviously those people were not looking for a computer industry blog. LOL

hehehe. I think that if you searched for baby's first christmas "embriodery designs" you might have more luck.

Great question Alice... If it is a design I know that I don't have, then I do use Google search. I normally put in what I'm looking for and add machine embroidery IE: baby booties machine embroidery or booties embroidery machine, or baby booties embroidery design... I usually can find what I'm searching for with that. If I can't find what I'm looking I come here and ask. I do the same for others who ask for designs...

Thanks Terre, do you have the same problem as sewmom and find services that will do the embroidery for you?

I also go to all the sites that I like first and of course ask the Cutie Family.

I would never use a search engine to search for a design for fear I would wind up on a site that was contaminated. If a "Cutie" here suggests a new site, I might check it out. if you want your website to get more exposure, try posting some really good designs in Designs by Cuties tab and also give you link to your site. Veronika has really been wonderful to allow other digitisers to advertise. As you already know, we have many "Cuties" here that also have their sites. I probably would have never gone to their sites unless I was exposed here.

that is very interesting, I don't think you should be so worried about the search engines though. If you antivirus software is up to date you should not have a problem. But then I am completely fearless when it comes to the internet and computers because I can fix the silly thing myself if I have any problems.
I have recently added a design in DBC. I think several people have downloaded it.

I go to sites I like alot first. Then I go to google and would type in baby first embroidery design and see what comes up. I try to stay away from any that come up for other search sites (and alot of those come up).

Hi Alice, I use Google - and always put behind the subject "for machine embroidery". Another one I use is OPW "SEARCH" box and type in the subject name. I always come up with something there too. If I cannot locate what I am looking for I always ask on here - the Cuties are always so helpful.

Love and blessings Chris
P.S. Good luck with it all.

I try to google my search for things but I get lost there sometimes and after opening a few sugestions and can't find what I'm looking for.I go away in a huff.(some places look weird)I try to open places that I aready know.
Then when that fails I ask the Cuties!

Thanks Bev, have you noticed that if you search in google now there is a magnifying glass beside the results you can click on that for a screenshot of the page so you don't have to visit it if it doesn't look like what you want.

I search my designs first and then use several of the search sites trying to exchange words till there is a match like tissues I would change to kleenex or kitties to cat or animal etc.

Alice, the first thing I do - is a search in my own designs via AVA Find - if I don't have it in my designs - I might do a search on my favorite sites and if I can't find it through that - I will do a search via the Internet - I don't really have a favorite search engine - I have been known to use a couple - I would put in the search field Baby's First Christmas embroidery design - I hope that helps some. I always put embroidery design - behind what I am looking for. *4U

Thanks Shirlene, that is how I would search too. but I always use google. the reason is that they work very hard to keep there search results relevant and to the most part they do a good job.

First I try bing and google tpye in cats machine embroidery design or something similar and usually go from there. I get stuck once in awhile and I ask at cute because everyone here is so helpful. I know someone would respond.
I've tried to search at some of the embroidery malls but usually they are so expensive but stitchnet is pretty good. It's kind of new but offer more and more digitizers every day.
It would be nice if there was a search engine just for embroidery---but I am dreaming! LOL
