good questiona and you got some good answers. Thanks for asking
You have your answer from our lover of lace Shirlene. My WSS (water soluable stabilizer) does not look like mesh. It looks like fabric. Watch out. It can become addictive and between reading posts and doing FSL, housework will not get done.
WELCOME TO CUTE.
welcome to the CUTE family lique. As for being the expert - I am not - but I do have a love of lace. As the others have said - you need WSS (2 layers of the mesh looking, not the lightweight plastic looking kind), as well as a FSL design, embroidery thread the same in the top and bobbin, make sure you have a new needle and hoop your WSS tight in your hoop, don't over tighten it, but secure it. Enjoy, take a picture and post your new FSL item in PROJECT for us all to be inspired by. Keep on stitching! *4U
Shirlene is our lace expert so she can tell you everything. But get some water soluable stabilizer (WSS), a design and try it. I enjoy making lace. Just remember that there is Free Standing Lace (FSL) and lace. FSL does not need to be sewn onto fabric but can stand alone.
You need water soluble stabilizer to do it. I will let someone answer more to this so it will be answered correctly. Welcome to the site.
