of thread into the bobbin case, I had to cut a hole in the potholder to get it off the machine and then tend to the bobbin case! What a mess and thankfully my machine is making a FSL stocking ornament as I type. Whew, I will not be doing anymore potholders on it! My heart was pounding and I was ready to cry, thought for sure my baby was dead! They are just too thick and puffy, even though they were on clearance and only 99 cents for 2 of them I do not think it would be worth the effort so I am not getting more. I am sure you don't blame me there!

WOW, you're a lucky lady not to have damaged your machine. Think most of us have tried something like this before and ended up with the same results.

Yes I am lucky because I have a Brother machine and there aren't any dealers around here, I got mine at Walmart so I would have been without the machine for who knows how long! Thankfully we are fine now!

Hi Debra, thank goodness you did not damage your machine. I know how one feels when the machine starts sucking up loads of thread, usually accompanied with a terrible noise - heart stopping. *4U Sarah.

Oh I know, when I heard that noise I thought it was all over but the crying! I stitched out another FSL stocking because the one I did after the mess didn't work right and thankfully this one is perfect, I went ahead and put a new needle in before trying that last one so I am very relieved!

Oops - I have had to do things like that - and it is frightening. Sometimes a deal is not always a deal. Glad you are still up and running with the machine.

Well, we will see, stitched out a FSL and it didn't do it right so I have changed needles and will try again, I've used the design in the past couple of days so I know the design is good.

Deb, glad everything is sewing nicely now. Sometimes what might be a good thing, turns out it was better just to let it go. LOL... Of course really you are just out of 50 cents, can it be salvaged with maybe something glued on top? Happy Thanksgiving. Hugs, T

Could patch it with an applique and sew it on with the regular machine. Hoping this one is still OK.

I have had that happen a time or two... I have a very slim kitchen knife in my sewing room for just that emergency and I slide that blade under the hoop and slice those threads and take the mess out.. most of the time I can save my garment with no holes..but yes, what a rats nest the thread is in the bobbin holder.. I make my designs first then put my pot holders together.. never tried the ready made ones..

I will remember your tip and get a good knife from the kitchen and put it in here! Thanks!

Good thing everything worked out, I have had to cut a few things out of the bobbin case myself. It grabbed a shirt and there was no way that thing was coming off of my hoop. We live and learn and know better next time.

Yeah, I was really scared I ruined the machine! I did a stitch out of the FSL stocking and it didn't do it right so I may still have a problem.
