So many great ideas! Last year I used sheer shiny faric, some metallics and cut them about 2x5 inches and tied them to the string of lights> I filled it full like the wreath but it lights up and the sheers and metallics reflect the lights. When I put up my decorations this week, I'll take a pic for you. My mistake in making it was I used a long long string of lights which I didn't realize till I was halfway through! But it is pretty arched over the doorway.

Thanks Bettina for sharing this. We used to make these back in the 80's. they make wonderful wreaths for the door. You can do a lot with scrap but who has the time. hehehe.

this also looks good if you use styro wreath & make it with netting. Then spray with adhesive & sprinkle with glitter. You can nestle in tiny little christmas balls or ornaments & it makes for a beautiful wreath, especially if you use white netting & sprinkle with gold glitter.

Smila posted a picture of the finished wreath the next day in her blog and there she had glas-mushrooms and glittering birds in it. Very nice :o)

Another nice idea with scraps is to make a scrap bauble. You need a polystyrene ball and lots and lots of square pieces of material. Push the middle of the square in the polystyrene ball with a pointed stick ( a pencil will do as well) and mount the ball when it is completely covered on a stick which you can cover with a nice ribbon, or just make a wire loop in it to hang it up. I quite often put some nice smelly oils on it and use it as a freshening up ball. Lovely for Xmas if you just use greens and reds.

And I cut the squares with pinking shears.

I have done the same thing but not in a long time. I'll have to pick up some styrofoam balls in my travels this week. Thanks for the reminder.

I used the styrofoam balls and dipped the pointed square (on a bamboo skewer) in white glue and stuck into the styrofoam.

They are nice. I had 1 but left it with a friend because it is too cold and windy up here to put it out.
