One more thing...not sure where you live, but I have a VERY GOOD dealer that I have become good friends with over the years. I live in Vancouver, BC, Canada and would be happy to email you his contact info to perhaps see if he knows of anyone that can help you whereever you are located.
i have found a dealer who I think can help. I'm in Texas. Thank you again

Yes, this has happened to me MANY times with my Singer Futura. I have purchased many boobin holders in trying to figure out the problem, but now know that there is a little 'metal thingy' that holds the boobin holder in place and somehow that got out of whack. It's hard to describe to you in words.
I used to buy bobbin holder after bobbin holder (at $30 a pop!)and gently file down any nicks that may have occured when this happened to me. I should have just have taken my machine in for servicing and paid the $75 instead of spening all that money on bobbin holders. The way I see it, you live, you learn...
I have it serviced about 6 months ago and have not had a single problem with it since then! Before that, it was making me CRAZY and I was on the verge of trying to figure out how to get a new machine when I darn well knew that I couldn't afford one.
So that's my advise to you. Take it to a reputable dealer to have it serviced. Tell them what is happening and get them to show you how they fixed it so if it happens again, you will know where to look and perhaps can fix it yourself next time.
Good luck...
i was reading quite a few had this problem, I think the bobbin holder thing may be missing, the bobbin case has a groove in it and there is nothing there for it to sit on. Also i just found out that the switch that you move over to change from embroidery to sewing is also out of place. I think a screw is missing or something. The last repairman messed something up or left something off. I will have a reputable dealer check it . Thanks, glad yours is working now. I knew I had it threaded right!

Do you belong to the yahoo group "futura support"? They are a great group and can usually figure out what is wrong. I have been able to fix mine myself a few times with their help.
Proper bobbin placement is essentiel; I thought my machine was broken until I realized the bobbin must be inserted with the thread going the opposite way-guess the manuel is more important than we think! If U put the bobbin in wrong, the lower thread ends up on top!!!!Then the whole thing goes haywire- Hope this helps.
I've had it for 3 years and i know it's not threaded wrong. It has only given me a problem after being repaired.
Might seem like a silly question, but is the thread definitely coming off in the right direction? I was using my newer Pfaff for ages and getting frustrated before I looked at the instructions and realised the bobbin needs to be inserted with the thread going the opposite way to the Janomes I was used to. I can't believe how long I took to work that out!
Not a silly question. The thread goes right then you loop it back left. When the guy unjammed my machine about a month ago I think he messed something up. It has'nt been right since and i will not go back to him, That is why i contacted a authorized singer dealer for their advice. Which is what i should of done in the first place. it sews for a few minutes then wham. Don't know.
