have the Janome 350. What format does it take? I read it takes the sew but can I use my Jef designs or do I need to change formats for this machine?

I found this info on the sew vac site. i wonder is it worth the price difference

The Janome 9500 Memory Craft Embroidery Machine is the same machine as the Janome 9700 Memory Craft Embroidery Machine with these exceptions. The Janome 9500 has a black and white touchscreen where the Janome 9700 has a color touchscreen. The Janome 9700 also has 5 additional designs not found on the Janome 9500.

Spend just a little more and get the 9700 its more up to date although it takes an adapter and flash card to move designs to machine, will not take usb. The 9500 is a good machine but you will be limited as to what you can convert and use without buying extra equipment and considering the cost of this you might as well upgrade to 9700.Have a friend that has the 9500 and she says she wishes she had waited another year before buying hers. Likes mine much better as designs are easier to obtain and use. Go to a good dealer and check out the differences for yourself and you'll know I'm telling you the truth.

I had a Janome 9000 and loved it! Bought a Husqvarna SE LE and have had to have it fixed 3 times in a 1.5 years. Janome went in once in 9 years. Also the built in hoop attachment on the Janome cant be beat. It is a real pain to carry the large hoop attachment with my Husqvarana. hope this helps

Please don't be governed by price alone, you may regret it in the long run. Make a list of everything you want from your new machine, the max you are willing to pay and then compare the different models. If it does embroidery are you limited on your hoop size, will it adjust for different thickensses of fabric, can you free motion on it. These are just a couple but above all try and get the machine you really want and don't be swayed by brand preference of others. It's kinda like chevy vs. ford, you can't win and you can't lose, have fun and let us know what you decided on.

I don't have that machine, but I wish you luck in the hunt. Choose wisely! It's the thing with which we spend most of our time!

There are a number of reviews for the Janome 9700 (in the Review section), I don't know if it's very different from yours, but have a look.
