Thank you, to you. I learned something new.
I don't think anyone likes Prednisone. But, it is keeping me alive.... so, I have come to terms with the side effects.
I wish you well with your new treatment.
Wow ... sounds like we all have some form of asthma or COPD .... I recommend 'Advair' ... makes the world of difference to me.
I was on the purple Advair for a while, then we needed to increase one of the components... turned out it was less expensive to take the two inhalers than to have the convenience of the Advair. Same thing... just not a combo drug.
Sonja dear - I am sorry to hear you were in the hospital again - this has been going on for so long now - you would think they knew what they were doing and you wouldn't have to continue to keep going back into the hospital and changing your medicine. I will be praying for you - the bad thing about this all is - you will get younger - but you might breath better and enjoy life more. Love, Shirlene
Hmm, I have never heard of taking hormones for breathing problems either. I have asthma, not COPD but close to it. I use an inhaler, nebulizer (machine you put albuterol liquid into and breath it in for about 10 minutes) that I am suppose to use 4 times a day but only getting in 3 and just started 15 days on Prednisone plus I take Singulair and Mucinex. I have been coughing so much that I faint and fall to the floor, that hurts! Take care of yourself, relax when the breathing gets hard and yes, exercise by walking as much as you can and build up your time doing it. Good luck dear.

I too have COPD. I have learned to live with it. I went through pulmonary rehab several years ago. It helped considerably. I have learned to exercise. It does wonders for the lungs. Ask your Dr. about pulmonary rehab. It does give you lots of information to live with your condition and is very helpful. Hugs, Mary.
Okay, first of all, take a deep breath....
Yeah, not funny... I know.
I get Pulmonary Function tests each month now.
You don't want to know how many meds I am on.
I am surprised by your hormone pill.... I would expect perhaps a steroid called Prednisone, but can not image why a hormone.
Best thing you can do to help yourself with your COPD is not to fight it. Make yourself as relaxed about it as possible. Do what you need to do and rejoice that such things are available... nevermind what used to be... this is your new reality. Embrace it and live your life.
Good luck.
I also suffer from COPD and at one time was on 11 different medications (now 2 plus inhalers to have on hand). Have banished anyone that smokes from coming inside the home and replaced our two wood burning stoves with central heat and air conditioner. I tell people I'm not telling you you can't smoke just not in the house. Also started the ten thousand steps a day exercise. That is about equal to 5 miles (8.04672 kilometers). My walk is for 2 miles and I finish the other miles up later on the stationary bike and when there is bad weather. As I just fell down the stairs to the basement this afternoon and have hurt my knee and arm so will probably not be taking that walk for a few days. I also use a face mask or scarf around my face when the outside temperature gets cold. Hopefully your new medication will make life easier for you and you can make it through the winter staying healthy.
Good for you with your exercise. Muscle tone has a great deal to do with improving lung function, I am told.
Bummer about falling down the stairs... I hate when that happens! Now, I treat the stairs as if they were elevators... if something needs to go, I put it at the bottom of the steps. (Others know that means I want it upstairs... and up it goes.) Same thing with going downstairs... unless it is something that will not suffer if I throw it.
Happy Healing.
Dear Sonja,
I hope that your new medication will help you to breath better and to feel better. *4U
