I'm probably not being clear, as usual. I was trying to say that the Fantasy Bears looked like they belong to Vermillion, and if someone else is giving them away for free, then they are stealing Vermillion's design, and should be reported. Sometimes several digitizers buy the same *artwork*, but you can tell the digitizing is different. I have seen the same art digitized by several people on very reputable websites, but you can tell it's *different*, not copies of the same stitches. Did that clear it up any, I hope? I wasn't suggesting Vermillion pirated the design, but that they were being pirated *from*. Hope this helps, Marji
I understand pirating is a terrible thing. I just wanted to state how impressed I am with these people. You did an excellent job warning about copywright violation. Two different individuals have been giving away stolen designs, they are attaching viruses and are phishing. Some of what they give is safe some is not. Like you said we need to stay with "reputable websites".
Thanks, Freida, I've never tried any machine Xstitch, Vermillions looks like a kind I'd like to try. I suppose Xstitch would be hard to do without lots of stops, but if the results are worth it, I'll clip a few more threads, lol. Thanks again, Marji
I am so in love with cross stitch. Did it when I was a child, the hard way. The machine does such a wonderful job. I clip all jumps before I start a new thread by hand. (I have a machine that clips for me but it doesn't do it close as I like.) So there are never any stray threads caught up in the work. Makes it really smooth and clean. I like shiney threads like Rayon and some Polyester for the luster it gives but even cotton looks good. All the stops are worth it for the look you get. On the botton of the page on vscc there are samples besure to get them. They are exactly the same as what they sale.
Vermillion is an excellent site. They sell thru their own store on line and thru retail dealers, like JoAnne's. Their work is available thru other online stores like Allbrands, etc. They also give a monthly samples that later are sold in sets. They stitch out beautifully and are very high quality. They sets are cross stitch and son well done you can hardly tell it from handwork. Only draw back is a lot of stops. I have purchased a lot of her cds and cherish each and every one. The Fantasy Bears collection was given free about 3 yrs ago and now is available for sale.
Vermillion seems like a large established site, like Dakota. The bears look like they're selling for $29.95, though, which would be more reasonable. Just FYI, my opinion, as a guess, would be they own original artwork. From just looking at enough artwork, this isn't clip art, it would be an exclusive or **maybe** semi-exclusive set. I'd check to see if the one given for free was cross-stitch or the more common fill stitches. Cross stitch is still pretty uncommon, and I would think much easier to recognize someone's style of digitizing. I don't want to be the police, but having worked in Advertising for many years, and having work stolen, copyright is one of my pet peeves. Just bear with me here, ladies. Thanks
