drink of water. I must have spent 2 1/2 hours on the floor out cold facing the bottom of the dishwasher and covered in bodily fluids from top to bottom. Just what did the rescue team think. My phone was in my pocket and called my neighbors, spent 4 1/2 days in ICU, and then home last evening. You wouldn't believe how many tests were done and just how black and blue I am from all the needles and IV's. Blood pressure fell down to 35, now being on a diabetic diet has maintained a healthly blood pressure with no pill taking. Anyone have good recipes to send me? I will not attempt to cook just yet but perhaps next week will start with something easy, I'm trying to maintain my sea legs.

Magie, Last March I was cleared of type 2 Diabetes after 5 year. I stayed away from prossed food drank plenty of pure rain water (caught & stored in a tank) put it through a fliter. added nothing else no cleaning gunk etc. ate Mainly porrage (oats)not instant, for breakfast & upto 2 slices of toast with Marg made with Olive oil, sometimes some jam homemaid or Diet. fruit for morning tea. Lunch was mainly salad sandwichs with homecooked fish or lamb. fruit for afternoon tea. Tea (Dinner) Grilled lean meat or fish with spices added, fresh vegitable steamed or boiled no salt added except a small amount in potato water or on Tomatoes, or salad. no dressing unles you make them with olive oil, spices, lemon juice, egg. fruit or nuts for supper. For cold days I made soup from fresh vegies. I made a broth soup for drinking, only one cup of coffee aday & some days 1 can of a lemon soft drink when I needed (felt lightheaded)it as my good colestrol was too low the only fat you use is pure olive oil if you want to marinade your meat use lemon juice or vinegar. get yourself a book for other ideas but stick to fresh. nibble on nuts & salad. Boiled rice can be used instead of vegies. if you do finger pricks & write down what you have eaten & what you count was before & 2 hours after eating you will see what meals give you a higher reading. try to leave out 1 vegie or meat at a time until you find which sent your reading up high. Mine was apples, & a friends was pork. Hard work sends my blood presure up & my Hubbies down, Coffee sends hubbies blood preasure up & mine down. You will get there. *4u all

The longer you can stay on a diabetic diet, the better you will feel. My husband has this disease and was diaganosed 8 years ago and he still is controlling his diabetes with diet. We both went to a class and we live by counting carbs and trying to eat healthy. I do hope you are starting to feel better. That was a very scary situation you were in. I am glad you got help. Hugs, Mary

What a scarey experience. As a diabetic now on insulin the only advice I would like to give is see an educator who in turn will consult with a dietician and put you on the right track. Don't buy any diabetic cook books yet. Always carry some jelly beans with you or a small orange drink in case your sugar levels drop. Good luck with it all. Everyone is different. Love Marg

Dear Margie,

So sorry to read you had this scare. I'm so glad that you got help though. I hope that all your blood pressure issues are being maintained with this new diet. It's a new beginning to a healthier lifestyle. God bless you and we will be here when you want to chat. Have a look on GOOGLE for great Diabetic recipes. Or as "keeponsewing" says have a look in the recipe section on YOU EMBROIDERY.

Love and blessings Chris

I am a diabetic and my advice is to get your Dr to send you to a diabetic educator. I get about 50 grams of carbs each meal. It is like money, you can spend them on anything but that is all you get. Each person is different some foods will raise sugar on one and not so much on another. I also have had cancer twice in the last 4 yrs, and both are hard to deal with. Good luck, Betty

Thank God you are ok! I'm sure it was scary. Good thing you do carry it with you. I have started carrying mine now that Maurice got a new job and I have it in my back pocket just in case. I'm so happy you got the help you needed!
Take care and get lots of rest. I think you can google diabetic recipies and get a ton of them.

Have bought sugar free bread from Publix. Had to ask at the bakery and they have a slicing machine to slice the loaf. You can also call ahead and order a sugar free cake from Publix. There are lots of products that are sugar free like jello, jelly, cookies and natural sugars in fresh fruit and vegetables are alway sugar free. Making sure you are on a regular eating schedule makes blood sugar levels stay even. Take care of yourself and keep getting stronger. Blessings for you.

My husband is diabetic and he is the cook. He makes desserts with Splenda instead of sugar, and they are wonderful. We don't eat potatoes anymore but eat massed or baked yams yum. No bread or white floor or white pasta. Lots of fresh veggies and lean meats, fish and poultry. Happy eating

Oh MY! Margie, I'm glad that you were able to get help. So glad you are doing a little better. You take it easy and don't push yourself. I understand the black and blue from needles. Been there... Takes a while for them to go away too. I'll try to look for you some easy recipes and post them on YOU's recipe group. Take care and will keep you in prayer.

So happy that you are better, Margie! Sorry, don't have any recipes, but I love to go online for recipes. You can specify what ingredients you like and also that you need diabetic ones or low sodium or whatever you want.

Wow Margie, hope they got you in better condition. I know that feeling. I cough so much from my asthma that I lose oxygen to the brain and pass out, wet myself and lots of time end up on the floor. After it started happening 6 years ago they checked for everything and don't believe me when I tell them it is the coughing but it started up again lately when I am coughing, 4 times in the past 2 months now. When I got out of the hospital after my lung surgery I wore our house alarm panic button on a chain for a while. Feel better dear.

Hope you feeling better now again at home. Thought about a rescue-button for my mum (a small box with a button that gives a signal to a rescue-station). She has restless-legs and has to take pills so she can sleep and they also caused a low blood pressure.
Greetings, Bettina
